Getting pregnant after miscarriage...

Hi ladies....I had a miscarriage on Dec. 26 at only 5 weeks pregnant. When I went to the dr. she told me that everything looked good and that my body had done its job and that the miscarriage was complete. She also said that I could start trying again after one complete cycle. I am ready to start trying again though, and I was hoping that you all could give me some insight as to the risks I take in getting pregnant right away vs waiting until my next cycle. I would appreciate your experiences with this.....

New Pregnancy Study

No wait needed for pregnancy after miscarriage

For the best pregnancy outcomes, when should a woman try to conceive again after a miscarriage? The sooner the better, a new study suggests. Scottish researchers looked at data for nearly 31,000 women who became pregnant after an initial miscarriage. Compared to women who conceived 6 to 12 months after their miscarriage, those who became pregnant again within 6 months were 34% less likely to miscarry a second time. They were also less likely to have an ectopic pregnancy, a cesarean or preterm delivery, or a low-birth-weight infant. The highest risks of a second miscarriage and other pregnancy complications were seen among women who conceived more than 24 months after miscarriage. The findings run contrary to current guidelines by the World Health Organization to wait at least half a year to conceive after having a miscarriage, which affects approximately one in five pregnancies.

I got pregnant with no cycle in between. Doctor wanted us to wait 6 weeks to emotionally recover but said a body will get pregnant if it's ready to be pregnant. I got an early ultrasound to find out how far along we were instead of going off my last menstrual cycle, but I am starting to think it's common practice to have an early ultra sound to determine the due date anymore. Good luck.

I believe there's something new published that states if it's a natural miscarriage vs a D&C that there is no problem with starting immediately. Waiting is mainly recommended just so you know 100% that it's a new pregnancy, to allow the lining to build to a proper amount and for more accurate dating purposes.
