I took a shower after my water broke braided my hair also.  Then walked around Wal-Mart because I needed batteries for my camera.   Wish I would stayed away from hospital longer because once you get there and they know your water broke.   It will be  a long day.

When you start your contractions its not going to be so intense you'll be able to mange the pain to shower and stuff. Usually it takes hours before it starts getting intense. You'll know by then :)

I've never heard of people doing that exactly for the reason as Joanna is saying! Your makeup will be down your face by the end and your hair I'm sure will be I'm a ponytail or a bun. And when you start having contractions you can have them for days and once your water breaks I've been told you are aupposed to go directly to the hospital so idk maybe it's when you feel your contractions getting really close together or something lol
