My doc sAid everyone does get tested for it n she'll be testing me on my next appointment at 35 weeks. I basically she'll take a swap in your vagina n rectum to check for any bacteria. She said the bacteria is normal for us but not safe for the baby. N if there is bacteria, they'll just give me antibiotics during or before delivery. I dont know y dey have to check the rectum
I got checked it was just a swab no big deal I'm 35 weeks
Its a quick swab it doesnt go inside you just on the inner part of vagina thru rectum takes a few seconds i tested positive at 37 w she said its very common and all that it means is i will be given an antibiotic when i deliver so me and my baby dont get an infection
I had GBS. Just make sure once your water breaks you get to the hospital so they can hook you up to an IV. They don't want you passing bacteria to your baby.
It's not bad at all, some women just have it "colonized" in their vagina or rectum. It can get serious if you actually have an infection from it, which you would know before a swab. I actually just found out I have an infection from it... After being pregnant thank god. But two months ago, I was clean! GBS is also just a natural part of everyone's body
