The test is a little uncomfortable (I mean it feels like they're swabbing your butt hole) but it's quick and easy.
Gbs is a bacteria any woman can have in andaround her vagina (not just pregnant women) that is typically harmless. On occasion a baby whose mama carries this bacteria can contact it and get very very sick, which is why must providers routinely test for it. If you test positive you'll missy likely be given iv antibiotics throughout labor to minimize the risk of baby getting sick.
Warning: the antibiotic stings really bad, especially when they first start a new bag. Use your breathing if this becomes necessary for you. Also antibiotics can lead to yeast infections, for you and baby. If you test positive, eat lots of yogurt to help reduce that risk. Yeast infection (in your vag) just after giving birth is probably excruciating! And you can get them on your nipples too, and your baby can get a yeast infection in his/her mouth. This can cause some problems with breastfeeding, especially if you've never breastfed before!
Its really very easy... and over in two seconds!!! You will do great! ♡
No it isn't harmful its just bacteria that some women get when they're pregnant if its positive you'll get medicine through an iv when you go into labor so it doesn't pass to the baby its no biggie
I have mine tomorrow too, the only thing I'll find awkward is I have male doctor but it's nothing to him.
what ecactly is the group b strep? is it harmful? what do they do if you test positive?
Its just a swab in between the rectum and vag I freaked out almost passed out for nothing and it was nothing no pain at all
