HCG and progesterone levels

I am about 4-5 weeks pregnant and received a call from my doc today about my levels. He said that my HCG was 457 which was great but my progesterone was only 3.6. He has put me on prometrium 100mg 3 x a day even before my results came back. Has anyone had results like this or heard of some one who has had a successful pregnancy with levels like this?

I've taken progesterone for my last 2 pregnancies. The first time was by injection and it ended in miscarriage.y current pregnancy I started prometrium at 3 days past ovulation and continued with it til 12 1/2 weeks and am now 26 weeks. It is best to have it started as early as possible but it does help if there aren't still other issues with the baby. I will tell you that it made my morning sickness much worse than with any of my other pregnancies and my breasts were extremely sore and I was always exhausted until I came off the meds. So don't be surprised if you begin to have some of these symptoms. Zofran can help with the morning sickness just ask your dr about it. good luck!

I took it oraly. He wanted me to use the suppository but my insurance didn't cover it and it was going to be super expensive. But it worked fine for me. At first I was only taking it 2 times a day but around 7 weeks my progesterone levels dropped from 15 to 8 so he had me up it to 4 a day then took it back down to 3 a day after about 2 weeks. I had mine checked weekly and also had weekly ultrasounds because I had several miscarriages and he wanted to keep a close eye on things.

He has put me on the oral prometrium but I think I might call and ask for he suppositories. I have read they work better. I am going in for another HCG tomorrow but he is supposed to check my progesterone again in 5 days.

Mommyjeep11- are you taking it orally or with a suppository?

I've read many posts from women who have low progesterone levels and once put on supplements are perfectly fine. Just make sure you take them exactly as directed. Is he going to do more blood work in a few days to recheck them?
