Had a scare tonight...back home from hospital...

I went to my OB because I just wasn't feeling well and my back was so achy and was experiencing some contractions. So I got there and the nurse/midwife said I was 4cm, 80% effaced and baby's head was right there. I started freaking out!! I was sent right over to the hospital to be monitored. Contractions were 2-3 min. apart until I got the 2nd shot of terbutaline. I got 3 shots total and fluids and felt like c r a p! Also got a steroid shot and go tomorrow for another. Then I got tested for GBS...so I should have those results in the next day or so. Once the contractions slowed, I was checked by the doc in the hospital. She first goes to check and is like "ummm I don't feel anything". So we changed positions and she checked again and said I was only 2cm and 50% effaced. What the heck???? I was told from 3 different people that I was 1 1/2cm and 70-80% effaced from 28 weeks until today. Weird??? So anyway, I called my OB and told her I was concerned. She said while I was contracting, things could have opened up a bit and it could have felt like 4cm and then when they got everything under control, it went back normal. So I probably am 2cm now so there was a slight progression. But when my OB gives me other steroid shot tomorrow, she will re-check me to be sure since he has checked me the most out of everyone. I am stressed. I just want to get to 36 weeks now. I am only crawling out of my bed to use the bathroom...that is it. Baby needs to stay put another couple of weeks! Let's hope so! I was told though that I do have a big baby in there though just by feeling it! yikes! Hang in there baby!

Oh hun im sorry you have been having a bad time i know how scary it is as i went though a bad time last week ( im sure you remember) and i know how much the steroid injections hurt. BIG HUG. Kelly x

Me too. My back has been so achy today. And have been getting contractions since 7ish. I'm just waiting to see the OB...I don't go until 5pm (EST). She is going to check my cervix and I asked if she could do an U/S...but I am not sure she can today, she is pretty busy, but we'll see.

Oh my - - I hope things settle down and the baby hangs in there longer.  How are you feeling now?  Did you say they were going to check you again today?  Any test results back yet??

Thanks Toni! It was scary and I think DH was even more scared when I told him he needed to meet me at the hospital. Poor guy...like he isn't stressed enough with everyday things. But he is a trooper and made me laugh desite everything going on. =)  I will find out later today if all is still going well.

Thanks ladies. I keep telling this baby to wait!! I am so excited to meet him/her but baby needs just a little more time in mommy. =) I think I slept a total of 2 hours through the night. The shots have me wired and I'm in pain. I am starting to get some minor contractions again...so I am keeping an eye on them again.

TKM...thankfully through the night I was able to breathe really well. Just had the awful reflux. So no problems last night! I was thankful! It is so weird how baby is really low, yet I can feel his/her little bum right under my ribs! I'm curious to know how big this baby will be. =)

awww chantal i really do feel for u, im glad everything is under control now and  im  also glad u poted this as i  had been experiencing some  of the same things, with the breathing and  with feeling the babyreally love dwn but   also high under my  ribs i thought that was strange  but from my scan at 20 wks they told me this baby had big feet and a big tummy lol.  well i jst gotta wait till  tuesay before i can  see my midwife nx but hopefully things will b ok. im  glad ur ok now  keep me posted  hun tc =)

Yes, very scared to say the least. I almost started bawling my eyes out right there, thinking I was just hours away from delivery. Thankfully things are under control now. 19 more days and this baby can come whenever. =) I just hope he/she stays put until then.

Wow! I cant blame u for being scared...i had early labour scares too with my second but not like this...i hope everything goes good for you and the baby holds on for a few more weeks...
