Have i had a miscarriage?

I recently found out i am 5 weeks pregnant after trying to conceive for almost 2 years. I have suffered from mild cramps from before i took the pregnancy test. Yesterday i noticed some spotting so i went to AE, the doctor said my cervix was closed but booked me in for a scan next week and took my bloods asking to repeat in 48 hours. After the swab i noticed red blood and woke early this morning to find more bleedin (not to heavy) and really bad cramps I also passed a small blood clot. I returned to hospital this morning to be told i had probably miscarried is there any chance at all i could still be pregnant?

Thanks

It's hard to say either way.  Only the doctor can confirm the miscarriage.  If the bleeding stops and your hormone levels contiue to rise, you might be fine.  But if the bleeding continues and your tests go negative, than yes, you had a miscarriage.  Unfortunately it's too early at 5 weeks to be able to see anything on an ultrasound to be definative one way or the other.  I've read that 50% of women who have bleeding in pregnancy miscary.  I had bleeding with my first pregnancy and went on to deliver a very healthy baby boy.  I had bleeding with my second pregnancy and went on to miscarry.

Call your doctor.  They'll run the tests they need to.  If the bleeding has stopped, you never know, you may be fine.  Best of luck to you!
