Haven't seen a doctor!

I am 3 months pregnant and haven't seen a doctor yet (due to mistakes in my chip perinatal case, not my fault)!! So, I'm getting concerned that I'm missing important check-ups.  Should I be concerned??  I have a 3yr old but and remember having seen the doctor right away.  I just hate to think that I'm doing something wrong by not seeing the doctor yet, but since I don't have insurance I gotta wait for CHIP!

Most doctors won't even see their pregnant patients until they are 12 weeks (3 months) along. So I wouldn't worry about it so long as you're taking care of yourself. Hopefully your insurance comes in fast.

I wouldn't say that it's absurd.....Many people do it just to get an U/S to make sure that measurements are right on......

You're okay to wait.  I think the only test you may miss out on is the Nuchal Translucency test...they do this at about 14 weeks.  It's an ultrasound and they also do blood markers around this point.  However, you're young and it may not even be something they'd do on you anyways.  Is CHIPS a Medicaid program?   You should be able to get on it fairly quickly.  Just keep calling them a lot. But in general you're not missing anything too important at this point.

And you don't want to visit an ER for prenatal care...that's absurd.  ER's are overcrowded enough, not to mention the wait time.  In fact they may send you away for not being there for a legitamate emergency.   Trust me you're find to wait it out.

I'm not sure what CHIPS is...but you really should see a Dr.  I would say that if you don't hear back about the program that you applied for this week, go to the ER...they have to treat you....They CANNOT refuse medical care....And being you have no insurance...you can pay them $10/month and they won't do anything.....(If you're from the US anyway...I forgot to check where you were from).....Good luck with your pregnancy!!!
