Having to stop antidepressants due to pregnancy

Currently 5 weeks pregnant and found out a week ago..  I was on 20mg of Citolapram a day which I have been told by my doctor and a midwife on the phone not to take them.  I stopped as soon as I knew,  which isnt best as you cant just stop your dose you should slowly wean yourself off the doses gradually. But being pregnant you have to do these things.  Anyway what i am asking is has anyone else had to go through same?  As has been feeling more down and not sure if its due to this or hormones or both.  I am also getting really dizzy spells,  spoke to medical helpline and they said its just symptoms of withdrawal and/or pregnancy.  Today I have felt alot better in myself and more energy,  would this mean ive overcome these symptoms or do they come and go?? Sorry to trail on..

I was on 200mg of zoloft... i stopped very quickly. . My dr suggested i go off it slowly over a 4 month period.. i did not follow those directions bc of getting pregnant. . I was nervous and anxious at first but now i feel great.. i was super dizzy and had weird electric shocks but those have stopped too :) good luck!

Nausea has been so bad has anyone take Zofran during their pregnancy. I'm just over 10 weeks so I'm hoping it subsides in a few weeks.

I had an almost identical setuation. I was on Citalapram (20.mg) for more than eight months and when i found out i was pregnant (i was 4 weeks) i stopped it right away which is true you're not supposed to do but is not that bad either, because Citalopram is one of the easiest drugs out there(my doctor said so) for depression and co plus it was the safest thing to do for the baby. Don't worry about it cuz if you think you feel some type of way right not it's most likely because of the pregnancy, usually symptoms for depression don't kick in right after you get off the meds, it take a while for the body to 'miss' them. I'm currently 27 weeks now and i have some down days, moody days but when i feel my baby kick it goes away. Think about your baby, in couple of months you'll be holding him and kissing him, there's nothing to be depressed about that. And if it makes you feel better just think that it's just a couple of months and then you cand get back on the pills,if anything. Also If you think you can't handle it anymore there're antidepressants they can give you during pregnancy but honesty i wouldn't take any cuz they are not 100% safe for the baby. Be strong mama and have faith!
