Baking soda mixed w/water helps a bunch.. I've had acid reflux pretty much my whole life, started when I was a kid.. The baking soda and water is gross you have to drink it like a shot..  (Pepsid AC, Prilosec, Zantac, etc) wil shut down acid production, making your problem worse.
The drug industry has fooled people into thinking drugs like Pepcid AC and Zantac are addressing the problems in your stomach, or even if you're taking the common calcium tablets to reduce stomach acid, you're doing your body three huge disservices: You are reducing stomach acid even further, the opposite direction that your body actually needs to move. You are worsening your already malfunctioning digestive system. You are compromising your absorption of the vitamin B-12
Also, the FDA recommends taking these stomach acid reducing drugs for only THREE 14-day periods each year! Taking these drugs longer than that is dangerous, because long-term effects are not well understood and longer-term use is not recommended. So these acid reducing drugs aren't even meant to be a real solution. On top of all this, short-term use of acid reducing drugs like Prilosec have a long list of possible side effects, including: Insufficient elimination of pathogenic organisms, Decreased bone density,Rash, Dizziness, Depression, Liver disease, Chest pain, Dark urine, Sever Diarrhea, Swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet, Unusual bruising or bleeding, Unusual tiredness; vision changes, Yellowing of the eyes or skin.. It's been said if you don't have enough acid in your diet your stomach will over compensate and create extra.. Best thing to do is figure out a diet that works, which can be difficult whilst pregnant, good luck to you.. Sorry if this is long I can't help it I read a ton guess imma dork.,

I am the same way! Nothing helps at all and I get it so bad sometimes I gag and almost start crying. Lol I cant take the indigestion and heartburn. Id rather have back pain. Lol but, I also have a problem taking tums but I have found that taking the mint flavored tums and sucking on them for a second before I chewed them up I could actually take them. As before I gagged while taking them and almost threw up but the mint flavores ones are just like eating a breath mint. Not bad at all.

My Dr. told me to get on pepcid because mine was so bad I was getting sick and nauseous. I thought I kept getting the flu but it was all from  my heart burn. I do not like taking medication, especially while pregnant but because of how sick I was I had no choice. I am now feeling 100% better and even feel like I have more energy.
