Help with nausea

Hello,

I am 7 weeks pregnant, and although I don't have very bad morning sickness, I do feel nauseous and queasy off an on all day long. It's really starting to interfere with my performance at work, my ability to focus, and with even simple exercise like walking. My clinic has not been particularly helpful in this aspect, they recommend Doxylamine which is a sleeping aid and I can't take it during the day.

Do any of you know of over the counter drugs or home remedies that are safe for pregnant women? Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Thanks!

I had nausea and vomitting until just recently (I'm 17 weeks) however the nausea is still there from time to time. A few things I did to help with it was ginger ale, chicken soup, saltine crackers, also some mildly sour things (i kept these sour lemon candies with me and they would help when i was feeling like i was going to be sick). also, even if you are not hungry, eat something. it can be something small but when you let yourself get hungry is when i found was the worst and when i was most prone to throwing up. also you can try sea bands, they are these things that go on your wrist and presses into a pressure point on your wrist that are supposed to help. dont eat and drink at the same time, like dont sip on your drink throughout your meal, wait till after your done (i have no idea why on this one but ive read it lots of places and my doctor told me it too). if you can, eat something before you get out of bed in the morning, since that seems to be the worst time. also for me, really cold things helped. not just ice water, but things like slushies, smoothies and sorbet, freezies, they all helped. Also there is a prescription medicine that helps with morning sickness that is safe during pregnancy and isn't a sleeping aid, however i cant remember the name of it. you could look it up online or ask a different doctor. I hope some of this helps, and good luck!

I'm 9 weeks and still feeling nausea all day long, but not as bad as when I was in my 7th week.  I basically survived on saltine crackers thru out the day.  I lost my appitite and lost about 3 lbs, it's horrible.  People say first trimester is the worst, and it will go away during your 2nd trimester. Also, empty stomach will make you feel even more nausea so eat alil bit here and lil bit there to keep yourself full.

Thank you ladies for all the great suggestions!

I too have found that being hungry makes things worse and surprisingly ginger ale does help. I think I'll give the mommy bliss tea a try - sounds interesting :)

I had similar symptoms when I was first preggers and I used the preggy pops and always had saltines handy so my blood sugar would never drop, I found if I was hungry I was more queasy so I made sure to eat 5-6 times a day, small snacky type meals. I hope this helps. Best of luck to you, feel better :-)

I had neausea till 13.5 wks. Ginger ale helped alot. Make sure it's made with real Ginger though. Try Ginger snap cookies also. Preggy pops can get them at motherhood maternity.

I had the same thing during my first trimester with this pregnancy.  It was so bad I actually wished I would throw up to feel better.  It was all day long too.  Only thing that really helped was tons of ginger ale, and eating bland carb type foods (toast, crackers, ect).  It was worse when I felt hungry.  My doctor suggested extra vitamin b, and also a tea called "mommy bliss" they sell it at Trader Joe's.  Hope this helps !!

Try some coke(caffeine free) poured over ice. The syrup in cola soothes the stomach when u have the flu, so when i have morning sickness i do that, or drink peppermint tea.(peppermint leaves sooth the stomach also).
A doctor of mine used to prescribe me cola syrup when i had the flu&was puking alot...he said all it is is the syrup used in coke but no carbonation, and always pour it over ice and sip it slowly.
If those dont work i suck on a lemon wedge...lemons are so sour its hard for me to do which is why i use ti as a last resort...but it works
