High thyroid levels?

Hi All,

when you went for your first trimester blood screen, were you told that you had high thyroid levels and that you need to be medicated for this? im currently 20 weeks and at my midwife appointment last week she picked this up and wanted to know if my doctor is aware and if he is medicating me due to it. I have done some dr Google that says that you dont put on weight, and bubs can be a premmy if not controlled.  My other concern is if he puts me on medication will i be able to breastfeed?

any help would be appreciated.

I found out with my blood test that i have an over active thyroid. My levels aren't bad enough to start medication yet but they keep checking it every two weeks.

I have hypothyroidism (high thyroid) and did with my pregnancies. It's easily controlled, medication, and as long as treated and regulated rarely causes issues, both of my kids are perfect and I'm currently breastfeeding my 2nd child and still taking my meds regularly, no bad side effects and we're all perfectly healthy! Pregnancy can set off a thyroid issue, so it's definitely smart to keep track of it after you deliver, especially when trying to get pregnant, your thyroid needs to be regular to support a healthy pregnancy!

Yer that's what worries me I'm 21 weeks tomorrow and technically it's been undetected, just a bit cautious as to if it will do any harm to bubs

My mom and two of my sisters never had problems with their thyroid levels until they had kids. i have gotten blood tests for it but all was normal.. after i have the baby i am going to get a test again and check because it didnt come out in my mom or sisters until after their body went back to normal after their babies. Im sure if your levels were dangerously high your doctor wouldnt overlook it, but just ask him. some medicines have negative side effects so maybe ur doctor isnt giving you meds for that reason?
