How many ounces???

So I had my little Addy 2 weeks ago, tomorrow. She was 5.11 at birth. She stayed overnight in the NICU and dropped to 5.6 before she came to me the next day, of course she didn'y get to feed there, so I knew she would drop. Anyways when we left the hospital she was 5.3 taking 1 ounce ( every 3 hours). 2 days later 1.5 ounces.(also every 2 1/2-3 hours) She had her 1 week check up, she was actually 9 days old, by this time she was taking 2 ounces, and she only weighed 5.5. So she is not gaining very fast, The Dr. wasn't too concearned I just have to go back in another week for a weight check.

So I guess my question is at 2 weks old is 2.5 ounces sufficiant?( still every 3 hours) I just worry. She is moving her bowels fine and her urine output is great, so I guess I'm just worried she is not gaining appropriately.

that is fine.  jaedyn only ate 2 ounces every 3 hours for like the first 3 weeks and then slowly increased.  he is now 11 weeks old and eating between 3 1/2 to 5 ounces each feeding and they can go from every 2 1/2 hours to every 5 hours.

dont over feed her.  she will let you know when her intake needs to be increased cause she will be hungry before the 3 hours mark often.  they have a way of telling you when its time to increase the amount of ounces.

I was feeding my son 3-4 ounces after I left the hospital. He would drink until he was full, and would eat when he was hungry. He weighed 7.10 at birth and dropped to 6.something, he'd lost more than a pound. BUT that was because I was only feeding him 1 ounce, we had to go back every few days to get his weight checked, and it wasn't until he was three weeks that he was 7.14. SO, I'd say it's ok to feed baby a little more, and if her dr isn't worried then you shouldn't be. Mine wasn't after DS started gaining weight. It wasn't until five days after his birth that someone told me it was ok to feed him more than one ounce, so he wasn't gaining fast, but after I started giving him three he gained quick.
