How much does your breastfed baby eat in a bottle?

Ok i have kind of a unique question. My 6 month old daughter only weighs 12lbs14oz. She's lost 6 oz in 2 weeks. Shes breastfed but i exclusively pump. She takes 3 oz every 3 hours. I took her to her pedi and she told me she should be eating 6-8oz at a time. I've tried giving her more and she refuses it. Spits it, pushes the bottle out of her mouth, turns her head, and screams til i take it away. We have also tried food and she will take maybe 5-6 bites and refuse it as well. They want to put her on a high calorie formula. I've always heard breast milk is enough but i am concerned she's not growing :( any suggestions?

Around 10 weeks pregnant is when my baby weaned from breast milk. Your milk starts changing in taste so that could be it.

I'm a pediatric nurse and we see it a lot especially with the reflux, if you are eating something that triggers it that can be why she doesn't take much. Typically when they spit it out or turn their head away and scream its because of reflux not so much that they are full. I'm happy to hear they gave her zantac, hopefully it seems to help :-)

And i am pregnant again. 10+1. Her pedi said sometimes that can cause your milk to change flavor and babies will refuse it or not take it as well. We tried formula at the office and she took 9oz! So maybe its just my milk :/

Oh and yes they did give her zantac for reflux. Also a multivitamin with iron because she's slightly anemic.

She suggested i use breastmilk but add scoops of formula to it instead of using water. She said to try that for 2 weeks and come back for a weight check so hoping she gains. Thanks ladies!

Hazel and baby blue at six months the diet should still be predominantly formula/ breast milk based. Three meals a day is sufficient but they will only eat a couple tablespoons at a time.

I agree with hazel, you can still breastfeed but try and find what foods she does like to help top up. Rusks or weetabix or porridge. Even a mashed up banana or something. You just have to keep trying to see what she likes

At six months she should be eating jar foods stage one with the milk. Its to much on you too supply her with everything. Ask her doctor.

I would take your pedi's advice.  Breastfeeding is the best for your baby & its great if uve breastfed 3 weeks, 3 months,  6 months, a year, doesnt matter how long. 6 months is great.  Let them figure it out & just see how it goes. I had to stop breastfeeding my second baby @ 6 months because my milk production got low due to ne being preggers again! Lol she has no problems,  as healthy as can be. Good Luck hun, I'm sure everything Will b fine.

Yes breast milk is always classed as better for baby but if she is not getting enough then she may need something more filling. Have you tried formula at all? It may be best to just try her as you obviously know you have to do what ever you can. Neither of my 2 would take the breast so they had formula from birth and my 2nd had reflux so she had to have a milk for hungry babies to fill her up as she was sick after every bottle until she was about 5 months old x

She sounds like she might have reflux issues. Have you tried changing your diet? Stop dairy, nothing spicy, cut out gassy foods... 3oz at a time is not enough for a 6 month old, as for solids though 5-6 bites might be enough for her since at this point the majority of her nutrients should still be coming from milk (either breast or formula)
