Yes i do have insurance, in fact the most expensive and "the cover all status" of all insurance in my country but omg i just got an arrow to the knee :(
But i kinda recall they said it was the first appointment as in "the first appointment will be $300" i dont know if its gonna get less expensive or worse rising greens which i dont have :(
Yeah you should call your insurance company to see what's going on. I think my first appointment or two were more expensive (although not $300 expensive) and from that point on they were actually free unless I had an ultrasound.
I picked up another specialist during the pregnancy for a complication, and they tried to charge me $300 a visit for that. Since I'm not a multi-millionaire, I did a little battle with my insurance company. Turns out I didn't have the right kind of referral but once we submitted some special paperwork they reduced the charges to $40, a big difference. Check on how your insurance works now before you get another big bill...I've had that heart attack from the bill too.
I agree with Mamabear, sometimes it's just a simple mix up with the insurance company, either way call them and check it out!
Sounds like it is part if your deductible. The first visit will always be more. If you have the breakdown of charges, call your insurance company and give them the codes and they can go detail by detail. My clinic works a payment plan to cover all expenses during my prenatal care (I always end up paying more than told due to previous pregnancy complications so more ultrasounds), and it is broken down into 5 months.
