How to go about the whole WIC process?..

I'm 17 years old and 6 weeks pregnant. The dad and I aren't together and I live with a grandparent. I'm pretty overwhelmed. Can anyone help me as to applying for WIC benefits? I don't know the first thing about doing that and everything I've read on the internet is confusing. I'm kind of freaking out here and any help or advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

I went to the health department where I live & met my nutritionist that day & got my wic card and started my benefits that same day. Good luck

All you really have to do is go to a wic center near you an just tell them you want to apply for wic an they'll give you some paper work to fill out an they set up a appointment for you an once you go they give you books on what they do an how everything works as you go

I just walked into the WIC office near my house, fortunately there was no one in there, so I got on spot and received my vouchers that day.... Any documents they needed that I didnt have, i was to bring them to my next appointment. ... It was easy peasy lol....

Thanks guys, that helped a lot. I feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who had to do this.

When I applied I went to my local health care center. They gave me a paper to fill out and scheduled me for an "appointment". At the appointment they just talked to me about what I would get and how they can help me..so it's really just information they give you. Then they gave me this folder with all the things I was allowed to buy and they explain how to use it. So really all you need to do is go to your health care center and say I would like to apply for wic and they will guide you through the process.
The first time shopping with wic is pretty stressful and confusing. I had to ask a manager at my grocery store for help the first few times. You definitely don't get any "fun" foods...but the milk, veggies/fruits, & cheese are helpful.  Everything else is kinda gross lol, but you do what you gotta do to get by. It's only scary at first..then like everything else, it becomes routine.

Hey I know the whole process can be scary and overwhelming. It was for me too. As far as applying for wic goes, I went to my local social services office. You fill out paper work and they get you set up. You can start getting foods for yourself while your pregnant and the milk for the baby when he/she arrives.although its not something that will completely cover your whole diet and its not enough to rely on completely for the baby's milk, it helps out a lot. My daughter was both breast fed and she drank similac. The wic helped to get her canned milk and I only had to purchase it somet. She was a greedy baby lol. But I hope this helps. If you need help or advice on anything I'm here.

You don't apply for Wic benefits , you go to the doctor & you simply get an referral.  You will learn all about that when you go to your first prenatal care appt.
