I received this reply from the Community Manager in regards to your questions and I thought I would copy/paste so you could see her reply:
"it's merely a convenience to be logged in to both at the same time and only logging into MedHelp once. Nothing shows up on Facebook unless you share the FB (little F) from a post, etc. It's a way to allow our users the convenience to toggle back and forth with one log-in. "
She recommends for everyone else who has questions about how the link works to contact Facebook, because they handle what sort of content links FROM MedHelp TO Facebook, so they'll be able to tell you how it's all connected. However, from what I understand, only things that you click that have the "f" (Facebook) icon on posts, journals, etc will be shared between the two accounts, otherwise you will continue to remain separate and anonymous between the two, and MedHelp users will not be seeing your Facebook information.
I hope that puts some fears/concerns to rest and answers some questions! Anything else you need to ask please either let me know or contact one of the moderators or the MH Community Mgr and we can all continue to have the level of security and anonymity that we prefer whatever level that may be; if you prefer that your Facebook and MedHelp accounts are more closely tied there are options to link nearly everything you put on MedHelp so that option is available, but if you prefer to keep the two separate just do not click on any of the "f" icons when you're posting, do not click "f Like", and the two will remain completely separate :).
I do not know about the statuses, but I will ask.
Will my status here change my facebook status to???!! And do u have to link them for that to work?? Mine are the same email but I don't want what I put here on there??
Do you use the two in separate browsers, Sabrina? I use both of mine in the same browser, I wonder if that has something to do with it? I suppose I should stop trying to hash this out on my own and contact Cheryl, lol. I'll let you ladies know what I learn....feel free to contact her as well with any questions or any of the moderators.
thank you so much spade! I'm honored to be able to work with you and the other amazing Pregnancy co-CL's!
I understand; I try to keep the two separate as far as content and discussions go as well. I will personally continue to use the "like" feature, and individually delete the posts that appear on Facebook as I feel is needed. I did not realize that the two were automatically linked and this is a good reminder :).
I don't have anything on my FB about liking this post.
"like" and welcome as co-community leader Ashelen!
ok because i prefer to keep my face book apart from my medhelp dont want the hubby to see ive been posting alot about him lol
Nope I guess it does show up on Facebook if you like something; so there's a friendly warning/reminder that if you "like" it here, you "like" it there :).
Well now when you log in, you can "connect with facebook" however, this is optional and I don't believe they are linked unless you connect when you sign in.
I did notice on a member's facebook that it showed that they liked something on MH.
will it show up here we liked it or on our facebook?
Thanks for the update, and getting that song stuck in my head, lol! We've needed a like button for a while now!
