Hi,
I am new on here and have been searching for answers or at least someone who has had the same kind of experience..
Or at least kind of...

I reached 17dpo and af was about 3/4 days late so I took a clear blue digital -it said not preggo but the next morning I thought I'de use the other normal clear blue to see if there was a difference and at 18 dpo it showed a very very faint BFP.. Now I'm not sure if it was an evap line or a true reading.. I waiting til the next day and true again-19 dpo early morning wee and faint positive blue line appeared-great! I could see it easier but still wasn't as clear as I thought it should be.. Hubby wanted me to try every day-so I tested again this morning...
I used a first response pink dye and there was nothing!!! BFN in my face!!
Got to work thinking hey it's ok, it may be the test...
I went to the loo and noticed more blood than just spotting.. Although brown/pink-an hour later it was darker red-I think I have had a chemical pregnancy but its so hard to tell with these pregnancy tests...
Wish I had just wanted til I had made a docs appt next week..
Anyway, guess we're both back to the drawing board... Good luck to you. X

I agree..if it took 5 minutes for it to show up, it was probably an evaporation line.  I only use the First Response tests or the digital tests and always wait until my period is due, to make sure I get an accurate result.  When is yours due?  Best of luck to you - if it's not this month, don't worry - your month will come soon! :-)

Evap line is a line that appears on a test and is very commonly assumed to be a positive. They seem to appear most frequently on blue dye tests. If you look at a test before it's ever used, you can see a faint shadow where the positive would show up. Blood work would give you the best answer. Have a beta blood draw done. It's the most accurate answer beyond ultrasound and delivery.

Well false positives are rare, but blue dye tests are notorious for them. I'd be more inclined to say it was an evap line rather than a false positive. You said it took 7 minutes to show up?

The tests you took that you thought was a positive. What did the lines look like. Were they blue dye, or did the lines have any colour in them? Or did they appear as a shadow, or some sort of light gray colour?
