I took and failed my 1hr glucose test too. I have never failed with my other two children. Tomorrow I am going for the 3hr glucose test. For the last week I have stayed away from all the sugary and starchy stuff. Hopefully this will help make my sugar more stable. I am scared to have GD because my family has a history of diabetics.I am very scared if I do develop it that it might not go away after delivery.
My last baby that i was borderline on the 3 hr weighed 7 lbs 15 oz, he was induced on his due date (induction becuase of major hip pain and throwing up alot)
They said I was borderline after the 3 hour. My 1 hours was in the high 130's, and after the 3-hour they said it came back borderline, just to keep eating the way I have been, and limit a high amount of sugars, etc., which I never ate sweets anyway. She was 7lbs 7oz. perfect weight, wasn't to big, so I totally believe I was just borderline. I would've had s/s of diabetes w/ a big baby if not!
I have failed the 1 hour with 4 out of 5 pregnancies. I have always passed the 3 hr tho. I even told my doc this time that I expect to fail my 1 hr this coming week. Though they (my docs office) don't normally tell you to fast for the 1 hr my doc suggested no eating or drinking when i get up that morning since I have a history of failing it. With my last pregnancy my 3 hr came back borderline but I was fine, doc just said to watch my sugar intake.
Borderline depends on your doctor. If you are having levels at 143, then you are at a serious risk of developing gestational diabetes. I would look up diet suggestions for diabetics and learn to follow it. Even if you are borderline, having high levels can cause your baby to put on more weight than normal and lead to a larger baby. Avoid things like juices, candy, a lot of pasta, etc.
May I ask what your doctors said was borderline, it seems I get different answers as to what is high.
I did! Mine came back borderline. However, I never had to follow a special diet or anything. Just because you fail it doesn't mean you have it!! Try not to worry and stress you and the baby out.
