What should be seen on a 6wk ultrasound? Conserend !!!!

When I went to the doctor because I had light spotting but no cramping she tested my HCG levels they were at 5000 at 6weeks 3days(she didnt confirm how long I was am though). She gave me a transvagianal ultrasound which showed a Gestational sac with at black dot. I was not told much but to come back this week to have my levels checked again to see if there rising. I am concerned she said it was only a gestational sac but what was that black dot in the middle of the clear thing? I have prayed to God really hard for this baby.

I hear so many storys of women hearing the heartbeat etc at just 6weeks!!!
Are my levels really low?
Also what are the symptoms for a blighted Ovum?

im so sorry your going through this, i had a blighted ovum in 2007 and i also waited for the miscarriage naturally, even though i did have a D/C a few hours after the miscarriage started.

it may not be a viable pregnancy but a white circle is probably the yolk sac and with a blinded ovum my dr had told me nothing develops in the gestational sac (the placenta did develope but i didint see it in the ultrasounds, i saw it in the miscarriage) and i have seen information about it on the internet too and in all my ultrasound of 2007, even the one that i had at 9 weeks 1/2 there is nothin inside at all.

again, im so sorry that your going through this, i wish you well and that you have a healthy baby soon.

The ultrasound sound showed me at 5 weeks 4days. What I thought I say last week was nothing this week it was just a clear circle my hcg levels had rising to 6,225 she said they should have double to 10,000 my pregnancy is not viable. I never got confirmed how far along I am but she said since m levels are not doubling that doesn't matter.  Even though last week there was nothing there like I thought this week we actually say a white circle, but she said its a blighted ovum. I have chosen to let it  pass naturally. Thanks for all our help ladies sure did mean alot to me.

Hey! I have pics of my 6w5d ultrasound too if you want to take a look but my doctor's ultrasound machine is way higher resolution than most because she is a fertility doctor that does egg transfers and everything. I am glad that you can relax and that you feel better =)

your levels are not low at 6 weeks they are supposed to be between                          (1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml )

i was 8 weeks from lmp ( i knew i was about 6 weeks cause i ovulate late), when i had my first ultrasound  my gestational sac was measuring 6 weeks 5 days and there was no heartbeat detected. i went two weeks later (at 8 weeks 2 days) and saw and heard the heartbeat and even saw my baby girl moving.

i don't know how to post a pic here but if you want to see my 6 week ultrasound its in my pictures.

Hey nickieb85!!!

Thanks I wish the doctor would have touched more on that subject but she said she didn't want to jump the gun on anything. Im glad my hcg levels sound good I can relax now!! :)

P.S i'm only going by a due date calculator hopeful at the doctor she will confirm how far along I am.

It sounds like the black dot in the middle of the sac is the baby =) Levels rise differently in early pregnancy and 5000 at 6 weeks is a really great number! It is possible that your dates are off by like 3 days or so and @ the 6 week mark 3 days can make a ton of difference in development. I had my first u/s at 6w5d (estimated) and my baby looked like a tiny little blob but you could see the heart beating away. If you are going back to have another u/s in a week you will be able to see a ton more (baby with a heartbeat)... Blighted ovums usually occur and nothing more than a sac (and a placenta if it is not caught early) develops (not even the little black dot that you are talking about =) But the only way to know is going back to the doctor to have another u/s done. A lot of doctors don't want to do u/s that early because of the concern of a misdiagnosed missed miscarriage or a blighted ovum. Good luck and I hope your little beanie grows and you get good news next week
