How long can a dead fetus stay in your body?

It can stay in there a pretty long time. If not found like Clysta said it can cause infection and they would probably notice it in a hospital visit. If you think you've miscarried I would recommend getting an ultrasound asap.

They should really try their hardest to take it out, because it can cause infection and might harm the living fetus. I am not 100% you should seek medical adivce!

I was pregnate, when I went to the doctors the first time she only seen one baby and based on my last period the fetus was small and she was concerned; asked me to come back in 1 week.  I came back in 3 weeks.  She still only seen one baby and the size of the fetus did not change; then did a vaginal ultra sound.  While she was doing the vaginal ultra sound she discovered there was 2 sacks and 2 baby heart beats.  When I turned 11 weeks based on pain I re-visited the doctors and had an ultra sound done and it was determined that one baby died at 8 weeks and now Im measuring at 12 weeks.  Now I have a dead fetus in one sack and a live fetus in the other is this ok for the live fetus and when will the dead fetus remove itself?

I already micarried it naturally on Monday.  After no avail of getting help.  Tried to go to almost every hospital on the busline and get a d&c, but everyone told me it would pass naturally. It did, and I am still bleeding and have pain in my uterus, but I guess I'll be ok.

Well my dad's girlfriend carried hers for 10 weeks not knowing she had lost it. (She missed a two appointments due to vacation) It's generally recommended to get it out after a short time though because it can cause infection and infertility.
