I hate the Internet

I was googling how to tell when your baby has hiccups because I still can't tell at 28 weeks. Well I never found the answer because someone posted that if the baby gets hiccups too often it can mean the umbilical cord is wrapped around the baby's neck. So then I started googling about how you'd recognise that and the amount of women posting such tragic stories about losing their child because of tangled cords has petrified me.

All I wanted to know was how to recognise when your baby has hiccups! Now even if I do recognise it I'm going to be scared of tangled cords.

Thanks Google :(

It's a rhythmic hitting on your insides. It can actually be quite annoying! Lol my baby didn't start getting them or I didn't start feeling her have the hiccups until about 31 weeks

lol well start listening!! haha -- these ladies on here have helped me a lot.. I know there are some tough critics on here, but I've been blessed with some amazing women/mommies on here & the BEST advice I've gotten was to stay off google for anything like that..

only worry if you have a serious concern, and IF you ever do.. your OB or the ER if needed is your best option. just don't sit around & worry! (((:

It feels as rhythmic as a heart beat. My baby is head down and lower so for me it feels like a heartbeat in my crotch and I can feel baby's head against my pelvis. It's so awkward. He gets them sometimes twice a day and they last at least a minute.

It's a constant rhythm that lasts for a minute or so. It's just like when you have hiccups. You can tell hiccups from punches/kicks because hiccups are constant and mostly evenly spaced movements. So, if you are feeling constant, evenly spaced movements, then your baby is hiccuping..
Hope that helped!

No there's usually a lot more than 4 or  5 of them. Just imagine how long your hiccups last.

There should be a button on google that asks if your pregnant then doesn't let you on if you say yes lol. Eventually I just stopped getting on google because it would always predict my or my babies certain death!! To my knowledge all babies get the hiccups in utero. Perfectly normal. I just felt lots of thumps towards my pelvis! That's how I knew he was head down! Don't stress momma!

My midwife doesn't like me googling things because of my severe anxiety so I've really cut down. I started using this app because people ask the same questions as I do. Just when I googled that, I didn't expect such a terrifying separate topic to emerge from it :(

I'm still not sure I understand. Is it when he "kicks" 4-5 times in one place? I can tell a wriggle from a kick/punch.. But just no luck with hiccups! I also can't tell when baby is moving in his sleep.

My second baby hiccuped constantly.. like 10 times a day.. No joke! He never had issues with his umbilical cord around his neck.. Google can be a horrible thing for pregnant women. I try my best not to Google anything that I could just ask my doctor about. Try not to worry..
