Castor oil is actually safer than the pitocin that the doctors give you to jump start your labor. Pitocin will cause faster and harder contractions that put a lot of strain in your baby. Pitocin is know to cause a lot of complications. I wouldn't recommend taking anything except for that fact that they have already scheduled you to be induced. Sex is the best remedy.
I was 4 days past my due date and if I remember correctly I took 1 or 2 tbsp. I know I took the amount given on the bottle. I mixed it with a small amount of juice and downed it. My labor was pretty fast as well I started having contractions at 12:15 am and had my daughter at 5:56 am. Of course I don't know if I can give credit to the castor oil but my older kids took much longer.
Everyone I know walks alot I know you probably have tried that already lol. And maybe drink some soda to help get the baby all wound.up n ready to come out?
Castor oil is a dangerous alternative, it may set you into labor, definitely, but it also can have bad consequences, such as baby having a BM in the womb, and getting an infection, my sister took castor oil, a TINY amount and her son shot into the birth canal too quickly, and the cord was wrapped around his neck 3 times, very dangerous. I've heard evening primrose oil works well?
How much did you use? I have been afraid of using it for that reason lol, were you overdue? If so by how far?
With my last daughter I was so miserable and ready for her to come that I tried castor oil. Two hours after I took it I was going into labor. Just careful because it works as a laxative as well. Good luck.
