IUD removal but not sure of miscarriage

I found out that I was pregnant with an IUD (Mirena, only about 4 weeks pregnant.) I had my hCg levels done and they were falling.  I had my IUD taken out and bleed slightly for a week with only slight cramps.  Did I miscarry or was the light bleeding from the IUD removal?  I haven't passed anything indicating the miscarriage but I also don't think there is any hope of a healthy pregnancy if my hCg levels were falling.  I'm not sure what to expect.  Can you please help?

Dr.'s found an ectopic pregnancy.  I had surgery last night and had my left tube removed.  I'm sore but it's probably for the best.  I had another one in June of 2009 and she thought it was the best way to prevent it from happening again.

I didn't know your levels could go up with retaining tissue.  I have to go back to see the dr. for labs and an ultrasound.  I wonder if this could be a molar pregnancy.

Hmmm that could mean you have retained tissue in your uterus.

Got a call from my dr today.  My hCg levels have gone back up into the 600's.  Not really sure what that means.  I have to go back to the dr. tomorrow for more labs and an ultrasound. This just gets more and more strange.

Good luck! I know I hate the waiting game. After I went for my first beta we got a huge blizzard and I had to wait for 3 days for my OB to re-open and get the results and get my second levels done. But thank God I talked the on-call OB to go ahead and prescribe the Prometrium just in case and I'm so glad she did.

She is.  She drew blood today so I should know something by tomorrow afternoon.  I've still be very tired and nauseous so she is checking my levels and making sure my blood count is good.  I'm not a fan of the waiting game! :-)

Thanks! And good luck! Is your doctor planning on checking your levels again? It seems like all the stories I've read it got low like that and then was taking forever to drop to less than 5, which is non-pregnant level.

My boys were conceived while on the pill then in June of 09 I had an ectopic pregnancy caused by my IUD and now I have lost this one.  Really stinks. I would have thought that it would be negative by now.  My levels were so low, first at 127 then 4 days later down to 46.  It's been 2 weeks since my last read.  I hope it goes down soon. Needless to say, I don't plan on putting another IUD in.
Congrats on your current pregnancy! I wish you all the luck in the world!

Everyone is different. Mine were negative 2 days after my miscarriage, but I've seen some women have hCG in their systems for up to 6 weeks or longer :( I'm currently 11 weeks pregnant and I conceived this baby right after miscarrying. I got my BFP 5 weeks to the day after my miscarriage. My 3 year old was also conceived the same month following a miscarriage. So like I said, everyone is different.

How long do you think it should take before my pregnancy test becomes negative again?

If your levels were falling then it wasn't a viable pregnancy. I've had miscarriages where I didn't bleed hardly at all and others where I bled alot and passed alot of tissue. If you were only 4 weeks along then there was most likely just a thicking of your uterine lining.
