I had the mirena in for 4 yrs well in dec of 2012 i found out i was pregnant they had to remove it and i had a chance of losing the baby and was a high risk pregnancy my whole pregnancy well on july 7th i delivered a healthy miracle baby girl:)
I had my mirena for 3 years and decided to have it removed bc I had this feeling something was wrong. My doctor tried to talk me out of getting it removed when I told her I thought it was imbedding saying that in the 10 years she has worked with IUDs she has never seen that happen. Well sure enough it was imbedded, I only narrowly avoided surgery to have it removed but after 2 hours of torture and ultrasound help it finally came out. I also miscarried 6 months after removal, have had irregular cycles and took 18 more months to manage to get pregnant again. I was always regular before mirena and got pregnant right away. I didn't think I would have anymore babies bc of it. Think long and hard before putting a foreign object like that in your body, it was the easiest bc I've ever used but if I could go back I never would have gotten it.
I had the mirena for 5 months and it was awful. I gained weight after having it put in right after having my second. I always lose the weight within the first few months and the doctor that I asked to remove it had the nerve to tell me the mirena can't make me gain weight and that "as we get older our metabolisms start to slow down.." I was 19... Now I just felt pregnant the entire time but I had a friend have it much worse. She left it in for only 2 years but by the time she wanted it out to have another they went to pull it out and found it had grown through the uterine wall and she hemorrhaged when they took it out and she'll never be able to have kids again. It just doesn't seem worth it to me if you aren't certain yet whether you want any more kids, you don't want that decision taken away from you.
Paraguard hurt me the first day, but it wasn't excruciating as some people make it seem. I'll be getting one back in after baby and I'm excited as birth control doesn't work well for me!
Depending on which obe u get the para guard iud is fine but the mirena had alot of lawsuits against it right im not trying to scare you are anything but mine mirena broke into 3 pieces i had a piece in my chest cavity one in my stomache and the other one was in my uterus plus i had complications from it i would just research paraguard
I had the merina for almost 5 years. It didn't hurt going in (or out) in my opinion. I loved it! I didn't have period for the whole time I had it. The only down fall is that I gain quite a bit of weight after getting it! Aside from that it was the best lol
