And also...I haven't noticed loss of hair or abnormal facial hair (i've always had a little above my lip but I think that's normal).
It's really sad, but I'm so terrified of being pregnant that I'd welcome anything else.
thanks so much for your responses. I took three first response tests (all negative). Should I take another?
I gained a little weight but then I lost some of it. I don't have any cramps. I don't particularly have any mood swings.
So I shouldn't be worried I'm pregnant?
I do not think you're pregnant at all. But you do need to go to a doctor and see why you're not having a period. PCOS is a common reason for missing periods. Do you have any of these symptoms:
-is your hair is falling out
-do you have facial hair (dark or light, doesn't matter)
-are you gaining/losing weight
-do you have a crampiness almost all the time
-do you have major mood swings
If so, you should get tested to see if you have this. You may also have a thyroid condition that can be treated with medication.
You said you took the first response, which is usally very accurate especially if you took more than one. Even if the there was something wrong with the baby you would still have enough hcg in your system at 5 months....or a lot sooner acutally. So if I we're you I would go to the Dr and find out why you aren't having your period.
I don't think you could be pregnant, there seems to be something else going on with you.
BTW, how many tests have you taken and what brands?
Update...I still haven't had my period...
But the tests were negative, and I haven't been having any other symptoms (no morning sickness, etc.). I even tried counting how many calories I was consuming to see if I got really hungry...I am medium weight and ate only about 1400 today but wasn't that hungry. By now I would be at least 5 months along... I feel like I would be able to tell if I was pregnant (I would be hungrier, nauseated, bigger stomach, etc.) but it worries me that I haven't had my period. I keep reading things online about people who don't find out they're pregnant until they have the baby, and it worries me.
Is it possible I could be pregnant?
I was going to go get a test, but I called a planned parenthood near me and they said not even to worry, to trust the urine tests. At first I was happy but then I started worrying again.
sorry---low levels of the hormone in my *urine, not blood.
Thank you guys so much for your fast responses.
Is it possible that there are things that would cause the pregnancy test not to be accurate? For instance, the fact that I'm not showing other symptoms--no morning sickness, etc.--could that mean there's just really low levels of the hormone in my blood?
The potential father has a lot of genetic diseases and told me that any baby is not likely to survive anyway (It's the sort of thing that gets worse with each generation). That just makes me worry that the pregnancy test could be off.
I don't plan on being sexually active again for many years--I'm single now and hope to stay that way. If I do I will go on normal birth control.
I agree with Joy. Like she said Plan B is to be taken in EMERGENCY situations so if you are planning on being sexually active you need to get on some type of birth control instead of whatever your using now. Plan B is very bad for you and does mess up your cycles. I haven't heard of it messing it up for three weeks but I'm sure its a possibility.
Those tests are pretty accurate. The only thing you can do is go to a doctor and request a Beta HCG test or an ultrasound. There are other reasons for the bloating and it would be a great idea to see what's going on in there.
Also, the Plan B honestly probably messed things up. I don't know that they'd mess things up for 3 months but it's definitely not something you should take routinely. It's high doses of hormones.
Don't be scared, but please do act! Go see a doctor and see what may be going on.
