Ijust did the endocine and 48 hour thing last week... so far no more bad contractions - from what I read on it if you use it longer than the 48 hours and are not monitored at a hospital that is when bad things could happen... good luck
I don't have any great advice for you, but I wish you and your babies the best of luck over the next few weeks.
I already had the steriod shots at 25 weeks. I have been in the hospital for pre term labor 6 times now.... I cant stay in the hospital on strict bed rest because I have other children I need to be able to see.. I guess I will take it one day at a time.
if that is the case then i wouldn't take it. they need to keep you in the hospital on very strict bedrest. have you had any contractions? when they start they can always try to stop them. normally the shot will do the trick after a few tries, but even after that there are several stronger drugs they can give you to stop your labor.
you also need a steroid shot for your babies' lungs. but try not to worry although i know how hard it is. your babies have an excellent chance right now. and little girls typically mature faster and do better than little boys.
THey tell me it is ok until 33 weeks...and that they want me on it 48 hours...but then what?? I go back into pre term labor??? I dont get it... If I am going to go into pre term labor anyways then why take it for 48 hours and cause any possible problems.. I can tell my body is giving up.. It cant take it anymore. I dont know what to do.
As Joy said you can refuse to take whatever you want. If they dont want to give you an alternative then you have to sit down and go over the risks or taking it or not taking it. What would the risks be to your babies if you take it vs. the risks of not taking it and having them prematurealy. It's a very personal choice, not one that any of us can make for you. You have to decide which route YOU and your DH feel more comfortable taking. I'm sorry if this isn't much help :(
You can refuse anything you want. Ask for an alternative!
