I have to say that back pain CAN be a sign of labor.. especially if it's radiating from your back to your stomach.. although contractions like braxton hicks can be totally normal but anything that you feel is not normal is worth checking out. Best of luck.:)

Okay what signs are you having? Are you dilated?

Contractions are normal throughout your pregnancy beginning as early as 6 weeks pregnant. These are called Braxton Hicks contractions. They prepare your uterus for delivery. Back pain is not a labor sign. Many pregnant women have back pain throughout their pregnancies. My second pregnancy had the WORST back pain that left me unable to move at times.

So cramps and back pain? Don't think you're in labor. Signs to look for would be intense, consistent contractions (time them for an hour). If drinking water, eating and changing position do not relieve contractions then go to L&D.

Dehydration can also cause contractions so always, always drink a ton of water when you feel them coming.
