Yep, unless they said they found a fetus, and believe me at the point that a HB is audible the fetus will be large enough to see on screen than it was your own HB. Sometimes, I have a hard time discerning this when I am listening in on my doppler. The only thing that helps me is that the doppler gives an electronic read out so that I know if it is higher than 125 than it is baby otherwise it is me.
Yea, you have what's called a "uterine artery" that produces the sounds of your own heartbeat. Most likely, that is what you heard :) Mine is so loud that the ultrasound tech and doctor both have a difficult time listening to my baby's heart beat because my uterine artery drowns out the baby's sound.
Again, if they didn't tell you they found a fetus, it was most likely your own heartbeat. I could have sworn during my u/s that the heartbeat I heard was my baby's, but unfortunately it wasn't.
U/S techs seem to have a love for leaving us in the dark. When my hubby asked the tech at the ER about things he saw on the screen, she gave him the "I can't say anything because my radiologist needs to look over them ... then he will give you the results."
Did you ask your doctor after the sonogram was done? He/She would be able to clarify what you heard.
dats what i am saying i heard a strong heart beat the sounds from the sonogram would have been air and i know how that sound but i asked and they said everything was fine i asked if they found any cyst and she said she couldnt tell me that my doctor will they did an internal sonoram and a lil while after when she put the sounds on again you hear the wind or the air or what ever then you hear heartbeat strong you hear the systolic and the diastolic... what you think ????
It could have been your own heartbeat you were hearing. You have a vein (or artery, I can't remember which) that runs across your belly ... so the sonogram could have picked that up. When I had an u/s done at the ER back in January, the heartbeat we heard while she searched around was my own (not the baby's like we'd hoped). Like mama said, if they did find a fetus and/or gestational sac, they would have let you know about it. Especially if it was something you hadn't mentioned to them.
Well, I have never heard of this before. Im sure the u/s tech. would have found a fetus if you heard a heart beat, and they would have told you. My guess is that you just heared the sounds from the sonogram. Best wishes and good luck.
