Is it normal?

I stopped breastfeeding cold turkey on the Saturday morning (24th) and not long after I was in agony and had to express a little to ease the pain and take some pain meds. I also used cabbage leaves in my bra to help extract the milk. The next day I felt a little better and expressed a tiny bit again to ease the pain and by night time it was bareable. I only expressed enough to ease the pain but still left my breasts pretty full so my milk won't keep producing.
Today I'm feeling pretty good. Barely any pain at all, I've not had to express once or take any pain meds, and I'm also not using any cabbage leaves. I just wanted to know if this is normal? I've heard of women quitting cold turkey and being in agony and engorged for days, even weeks. But never really about things easing out so soon. I'm just curious for any of your stories if they're similar or completely the opposite and if this is normal.

I had to stop suddenly to have emergency surgery and couldn't carry on due to medication in my system afterwards. I has sore for about a week or so, but it would come and go. The first 1-3 days were the worst though. Everyone's body reacts differently.
