I drink diet soda in moderation. My doc says it's fine in moderation and I have done it w/ all my pregnancies and never had any problems with my babies. I don't drink the decaf versions of it simply because they taste different and I don't like the taste. Now regular decaf sodas taste fine to me. But diet decaf doesn't! So, most things are fine in moderation.
What about coffee? is drinking a latte a day ok when trying to concieve?
My doctor says no but I have problems with migraines and caffiene helps so suggests I do have a soda every now and then specifically for the cafiene to help with the migraines. She did say as long as it's no more than about 8 ounces a day it' fine.
It's fine but make sure it doesn't contain aspartame in the ingredients.
And remember that all sodas, caffeinated or not, dehydrate you and you need to drink extra water to make up for it.
I needed Ginger Ale (one a day) when I was nauseated and it really helped me. And baby is perfectly normal and healthy... so I think it's fine in moderation!
Kimberlee is right, most dr.'s ok 2 caffeinated beverages a day.
Even soda with caffine is fine in moderation. As long as you're drinking the recommended 6-8 glasses of water a day, and getting some milk and such, then it's fine. In the beginning of my pregnancy I drank 2 soda's a DAY, because that's what I craved, and didn't throw up, and my baby's completely healthy, my doctor even OK'd this. Obviously I've stopped that now, but one a day or two is completely fine.
