Is it safe to dye hair while pregnant

I was wondering if it is okay for me to dye my hair during pregnancy? I'm 21 weeks and really need to recolor my hair but I definitely don't want to harm my baby boy!

Ive always had really smooth hair, dye it about 5 times a year, and I dyed it when I was around 20 weeks and my hair fried. It was so bad that there was nothing they could do but cut it. Ive never had a reaction like that, but im definitely waiting until my son is born to dye it again.

My mom did and her hair turned purple because of her hormones going crazy haha.

Hair dye is bad for you period.  It kills brain cells

My doctor told me it was fine as long as iwas in a well vintalated area

I have been a hairdresser for 10 years and I have coloured women's hair when they are pregnant. I work with the chemicals 12 hours a day I'm at more risk then someone putting in on the scalp. If you have always dyed your hair say every 3months and never had a reaction then your fine! I wouldn't start doing it if you haven't done it In a long time but honestly it's fine it doesn't enter your blood stream. Your baby will be fine, but if your worried do a allergy test, ( place a little colour behind your ear if you itch after 24 hours then don't do it) :)))

I asked my hairstylist and she said as long as it doesn't touch your scalp, because yes it does soak into your skin, than its fine since hair is dead anyways. just be in a ventilated area.

Im 37 wks and my doc told me No. The chemicals go thru ur scalp into the blood u are sharing with the baby.. thats what my doc told me

I wouldn't! I know a girl who dyed her hair and had a massive reaction, her eyes swelled shut and her head was swollen. Baby was fine but not worth the risk I think!

Hi! I'm a cosmetologist. It's completely safe as long as you are in a well ventilated area. It won't harm baby (:
