10 weeks first dr. appt.???

The Dr.'s office just called.  I have to wait until I'm 10 weeks along to see the doctor.  But I am getting the hcg blood work done this week, twice, to make sure I am indeed pregnant and that my levels are rising.  It worries me waiting that long, but she said since I have only have one m/c and it was my first pregnancy, they don't do any special testing or sooner visits.  I trust my doctor's office but I just worry that my pregnancy won't last and that I would go 10 weeks thinking everything is ok, just to be told at 10 weeks it's lost.  I know I shouldn't worry but I don't know how else to monitor the situation!

Thank you all for your comments!

I know that if I wil miscarry, seeing the doctor any earlier may not prevent it, I guess it's just the fear of going there and seeing/hearing nothing.  They will be testing my hcg (I went this morning) and assuming there is some there, then it will be repeated on Friday.  I don't know if my first appointment entails an u/s, but I will be asking when they call me with the results on Thursday.  Thanks ladies, I will update everyone on Thursday!!

I would consider yourself fortunate.  Many, many doctors that I have encountered will not do the first actual OB appt until 12 weeks. Honestly, there really isn't a whole lot they can do before then other than confirm the pregnancy. At 10 weeks you will be far enough long to get a dating u/s and see a heartbeat even taking into consideration any possibly miscalculated dates.

It's just their protocol and while it is stressful for you... if there was something wrong they really can't do anything in early pregnancy anyway. If it is a low progesterone problem (which can cause miscarriage) they'll find that when they do your blood work this week and prescribe progesterone supplements for you and maybe see you sooner. Otherwise, they will assume that with a doubling HCG that your pregancy is progessing and growing!

in my area the Dr's make you wait until 12 weeks. When i get pregnant again i will be considered high risk so i go as soon as i find out and have a special u/s at 12 weeks, we don't get first u/s here until 20+week

I understand your anxiety; I had to wait until 8 weeks and I thought that was a long time! I'd had a m/c previously so the wait was almost unbearable. I wanted to hear that heartbeat so bad I thought I would die waiting!! The unknown is the worst part... and it's so difficult to wait. But keep in mind that your chances are very good to have a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby. Keep the faith and stay positive. Having a baby is the norm, not the exception... The best thing you can do is take the very best care of yourself possible. Best wishes to you, and let us know how the appointment goes! Do you get an u/s too? That is such an amazing experience. :)

No I'm not in the military.  Well tomorrow I am going to get the beta hcg checked, so that will verify that I am pregnant.  Assuming that I am, then they will check again either Thursday or Friday to make sure they are rising.  But I am definitly not telling anyone other than immediate family what is going on, just in case.  I know that if I do m/c again, then I will most likely know, but then again I know I could have a "missed m/c" and it just makes me worry.

I am in the exact same situation. I am 10 weeks today, but I still won't see the Dr. until next week. The nurse told me the Dr. doesn't like to see a patient until then, because it would be harder to hear the heartbeat before that. But it has me completely stressed out because I want to know that everything is ok. I haven't had any problems, but it would be nice to know sooner. Are you in the military? I am and thats the way my dr. does it. Good luck and try to relax
