Keflex, Good and bad?
Was in the ER weekend before last. Diagnosed me with a UTI, and put me on Macrobid 100mg BID. Got a call yesterday, they said my culture reads that the bacteria in my urine is resistant to Macrobid. So apparently they didn't do a Culture and Sensitivity test when I was in the ER like they should have. I had to pay $50 for the Macrobid that I took, that didn't and wouldn't do diddly-squat for my "UTI". I think I was misdiagnosed and mistrated with the Macrobid. They shoulsnt have started me on an antibiotic until they knew what was going to work in the first place. Macrobid is for UNCOMPLICATED UTI's also, and the ER doctor told me that it was obviously a conplicated UTI because I had less than 100,000 count on my culture. Plus, I don't think its even a UTI. I've had costovertebral angle tenderness since all of this started, which IS NOT a sign or symptom of a UTI, its a s/sx of pyelonephritis. The medicine that the doctor changed me to yesterday, ovet a week after I was initially in the ER is Keflex, commonly used to treat pyelonephritis, not a UTI. I'm livid. Apparently the doctors didn't their job, waited a week or so to do my C&S which should have been done the night I was in the ER, diagnosed me for a UTI even though all of the s/sx I had pointed to pyelonephritis, not a stinkin uncomplicated UTI, and are now giving me medicine used for pyelonephritis, which they have not diagnosed me with. The dkctor that prescribed the Keflex isn't my normal doctor and didn't talk to me AT ALL about the risks it could have on my baby. I am 6 and a half months. The Keflex that I am on I am taking 500mg TID, so its a stronger dose also. I'm just so irritated and livid, I needed to get my story out Lol. Anyone else ever had this problem?
Well Idk about any of u but I get uti's when I get pregnant and this is my 3rd pregnancy I'm in and due in about 6 weeks and every time I get prescribed keflex and both my girls are fine and so is my son.
Well, I was in the ER. They didn't say I needed to schedule a check-up appointment, they just called and said they had prescribed this new medicine. But the doctor who prrscribed it, I didn't even get to talk to him on the phone! I don't even know him, and he just put me on e new medicind
That's the thing, I don't know why mu regular doctor wasn't the one who prescribed it. It was some doctor that I don't even know, and he sure as heck doesn't know me. I don't see how he can diagnose, let alone prescribe medicine to a patient that he has never seen.
Its an oral antibiotic. Most commonly given to treat pyelonephritis because it also has some antiinflammatory properties to help any inflammation of the kidneys. But its a Pregnanacy Class B drug if I remember correctly, meaning that your doctor is supposed to tell.you and help you weigh the risks that it could possibly have on your baby. No risk weighing was done in my prescribtion, the stinkin doctor doesntt even know me):
What is that used for? I'm not positive but it sounds like one of rhw.meds my dad uses for epilepsy
Ugh. Doctors these days! I'm 18, and have never been to Med school, how come I know more about this than my stinkin doctor? Excuse me for feeling this way, but why can't I slap a stinkinf MD before.my name and get paid for.doing what they obviously aren't?! And when I went to pick up my medicine at the pharmacy, the tech guy asked me "Are you on birth control?" I'm 6 and a half months pregnant! I wanted to ask him if he forgot to eat his Wheaties yesterday morning, stinkin idiot. I'm just worried the Keflex could be mote harmful to my baby. Its never been tested in pregnant women/:
