Boy names

Okay, first I'll clarify that I am currently NOT pregnant or trying to conceive.

I made a journal entry about this as simply a fun way for me to "plan ahead" for boy names (we already have a girl name chosen), but I wanted to get a graphic by using the poll to see which name is the most popular choice.

We've come up with three definite names that we like as first names. We are both fond of unique, uncommon names, but not really unusual; the type of names that don't exactly make you scratch your head and think "whaa?" but the type of name that you aren't likely to hear of more than a few times in your life and that's not so popular that at every grade level in school, there would be another boy with that name in the class, for example.
So...here are the names we like (apparently we have a thing for names that end with "er," lol).

I voted Asher - I have only known one boy of that name in elementary school.  He went by Asher, too, not Ash.  Though I have an Indian friend named Ashraf and he goes by Ash.  Anyways, I have never heard of the other two names.  Rainer is similar to Rainier, like Mt. Rainier (though I've never seen it as a name), or just Rainn, like Rainn Wilson (Dwight from The Office).  But, I've never heard of anything like Bridger before.  Maybe that one would be too uncommon.  Good luck to you - whichever you pick, I'm sure will be the right one for your future baby, and it sounds like you have lots of time to decide. :-)

I like Rainer, it sounds nice and unusual but not too unusual!

I voted Asher because in this book series I love one of the characters names is Acheron (pronounced Asheron) and I just love it. I'm not really fond of Bridger.

I voted Asher. :)  I've always liked the name, but any boys we have will all start with "J" so I will never get to use it as a first name. =P

I figure Asher will get the most votes because people are more familiar with more common names beginning with "Ash."
We like the other two names for the reason that there isn't a lot of familiarity associated with them--but that isn't necessarily a good thing.
