Lifting

So we have to clean out an old trailer full of junk. I won't be moving furniture or anything lol but when I mentioned I shouldn't be hauling huge 39 gallon garbage bags filled with heavy stuff around, my boyfriend's grandma got sort of offended and jumped on me like "Why not? Did your dr place a weight restriction on you?"

I'm 24 weeks pregnant now and am NOT physically fit. Weather outside is slippery and I can barely get onto the porch without falling. There will be 5 men there and I will be doing basically everything that's NOT lifting.

Is it unreasonable for me to not want to lift heavy things while 24+ weeks pregnant?

I refuse to lift anything over 10 pounds. But a general rule my doctor said is that when pregnant you should never lift over 25 pounds. Unless thats what you were doing pre pregnancy. I heard if you did a lot of heavy lifting, and heavy excersizing then it's okay to continue that but to never jusy start up doing those things during pregnancy.

Absolutely! Heavy lifting will put unnecessary strain on your back and hips and will likely cause some braxton hicks. Your joints are releasing a hormone called relaxin which makes them loose so you're more prone to injury as well. I was told nothing more than 20 lbs after 20 weeks. Occasionally I'll lift my step son for a moment or carry groceries but too much in one day is a no.
