Low HCG

Hi Everyone,
My doctor called and left me a message yesterday about the blood test I have last friday (a week ago). She said that my HCG levels were low. Her words were 'Your HCG levels are a little low, they're OK but low. It may be due to late ovulation but I'm sot sure, I would like to have the test repeated'. I'm really concerned now. I am meant to be 6 weeks and I am experience my symptoms come and go. Just before 5 weeks my nipples stopped being sore, then they came back in the evening for a few days, then they were really sore for 1 day and now they have gone again. They are only sore when they are cold in the morning.....

I've been concerned about my lack of symptoms, and this message has left me very very worried. Has anyone had similar experiences?

I have found a list of the ranges on the internet and they do vary greatly. I don't know my actual figure but will find out tomorrow when I visit my doc. She will also get me to do another blood test to make sure things are going OK. My boobs have gotten quite sore and I am VERY VERY VERY sick today, so I don't think I need to worry, if my hormones are decreasing you would like I would be getting less symptoms, not more of them! I will request an u/s if my levels are still low, thank you.

I had this.  Mine was low and did not double.  I had a healthy baby boy.  Wait until 7 weeks and as for a u/s.  The heartbeat will over ride any blood work you have done.  At this point there is no sense in getting retested once.  Either get it done twice and check the difference or wait a week or a u/s. I would do the latter because if it doesnt double you will worry yourself sick until the u/s.  Good Luck and try not to worry.  The levels have huge ranges and you could be completely normal, just on the low side, which is on here all of the time and all have had healthy pregnancies.  Google the hcg level chart and check out where you are.

Thanks you both for your input. I am just going to have to wait until my bloodwork is done next week. I am constantly nauseous (and it is getting worse), I only feel good when I am eating!!!! So I'm hoping that the worsening sickness is my hormones increasing. I will request that they check my progesterone and estrogen too, my mum has low progesterone so maybe I do too. I'm sure of the dates that I ovulated (however my temperature is a little sparadic so it could be give or take a few days. My doctor knew I ovulated late, but her results may still be going by first day of my last period.

My cousin had low HCG levels and the doctor started her on hormones. (either progestrone, or estrogen) It was to help her boost them until she could kick them into gear herself and she had a normal healthy baby. I hope this helps. Your breast, like your other symptoms will be better on some days than others.

Has anyone else had low HCG levels and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy? People have said that maybe I have my ovulation date wrong...I am pretty sure it's correct as I was charting my temperatures. I'm just concerned because my only strong symptom is nausea, I feel really sick when I am hungry and some food smells make me feel sick. Why is my breast tenderness coming and going?

A lot of women dont really have that many symptoms and go on to have healthy babies. I would not be to concerned unless your doctor seems concerned.... I would suggest that you request a follow up on your hcg levels by getting a second blood test.
