Low Progesterone Levels

I’m about 5 weeks pregnant and this is my first pregnancy and I just got a called from my OB/GYN saying that I need to retake my labs for my progesterone level. I was informed that it was low. She didn’t mention that anything else was low so I am assuming everything else is okay. However, I was wondering if I was on Clomid during TTC, it shouldn’t be a surprise that my progesterone levels are low. Right? I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this and what you have/had to do. I’ve been so much research and I’m about to go crazy.

Plus I’m having a light cramping feeling (on and off) on my left side should I be worried? When I went in for my 4week u/s the OB stated the sac is on my right side. Can the sac move around at this stage? Or are these light cramps normal. Sorry I’m a nervous mother-to-be I just want everything to go right/healthy.

My OB gave me some samples of prometrium while we wait for the lab results. She even told me she a woman who had a progrestron level of 1 and was put on prometrium and had a healthy baby. Now that suprised me. I was told I was just under the suggested progestrone level. But, she wants to be careful. Thanks everyone for writing back.

Did your OB suggest progesterone supplement? Ask them to put you on supplement. (prometrium or endometrin) Good luck

Hi Nolta,

I had a progesterone level of 13.8 at the beginning of this pregnancy. They wanted it to be above 20. I was put on crinone natural progesterone for a few weeks and then I was switched to prometrium. I'm finishing up my 13th week and will no longer have to take it. It supplements the progesterone levels until the placenta takes over. It's pretty common and luckily the supplemental progesterone can help.
Also, I had some side cramping like you are describing early on too. It was pretty light and no bleeding accompanied the cramping. It's probably the corpus luteum. No worries.
I'm not sure about the sac location question.
I've been nervous too. These forums do help feel in the gaps of information sometimes left after appointments. It's hard to think on the spot when your doctor is talking to you.
I hope everything works out with your pregnancy.

I'm also 5wks and the cramping is normal.I hear that as long as you don't bleed and its not very severe that you have to bend over then its okay.
I don't know about the progesterone levels though.Hope evrything works out ok for you!
