Maybe a stupid question!

I was sitting in the bath today wondering "will i be able to tell my water has broken if i am in the tub, or peeing" so i looked online to see what people had to say, everyone basically says the same thing "if it breaks all at once, you'll feel enough of a gush, weather in the bath or on the toilet to know, and it's just leaking, even once you dry off and get dressed there will be a continuing of watery fluid trickling out" now i am wondering, when it breaks, or leaks, will i be able to hold it, like when you're peeing you can clench and get the urine to stop until you unclench or will it be uncontrollable? Maybe that would be a way to reassure myself that yes, it is your water breaking, or nope just a leaky bladder with all that baby sitting on there! Sorry if this seems like a horrible question! LOL

Haha, with my first my waters broke when I sat down to pee on the toilet. I didn't know what had happend because I heard the gush hit the water and got really confused. Stood up and went and asked my mother and partner what they thought. I then rang my midwife and she told me the way to tell if it's my waters was to lay down for 20 mins then stand up.. so that's what I did and there was definitely no way I could hold it back once I stood up haha

thank you! i've been so nervous about not catching that my water has broken and then when i finally realize that i'm in labour it's too late, and we end up having a car baby or something!! (I know, not likely) LOL but your answer helped reassure me a lot! I should expect it to be uncontrolable and continuous not like a pee, but shouldn't be expecting an explosion either!!

Lol. Not a horrible question. I'm still pregnant with my 2nd but with my first my water broke while I was peeing thankfully. I was all done wiped, stood up and stuff was just coming out of me. I thought I peed on myself at first until I realized I physically couldn't stop it. I had to yell for my husband to bring me a towel because I was standing in a little puddle. It def wasn't a gush like you see in the movies though. All I can explain it is that it feels like you're peeling on yourself and it won't stop.
