Thanks for the information & opinions everyone. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for it! Hopefully it goes well for me.
The sweep is to remove the membrane (aka mucus plug). The sweep has nothing to do with your water breaking.

Most of the time you have to get your water broken it's like 15 to 20% actually brake on there own. The sweep is definetly worth it
So is there really any benefit to doing the strip of you may have to have your water broken at the hospital anyway? What is really the difference between waiting and being induced?
I also had to get my water broke at the hospital.
I was 39 weeks with my second when I got mines done. Within that day. I've lost my mucus plug. I wasn't dilated nor did I lose my mucus plug before the sweep.
Silly question I guess but if I don't lose my mucus plug or water before then, then it'll happen after the strip or what?
I'm very much in favor of it. Had it done 3 out of 4 births worked within hrs to 36hrs. Sex is the key, do it as much as you can tolerate. Gets productive contractions going and thins cervix. Walking and yoga ball will help things along if contractions stall.
I had mines sweep at 39 weeks. It hurts a little mostly pressure tho. But it worked for me. Good Luck Mom (:
Go for it. Might make things progress.
