Metformin and pregnancy

I am few wks pregnant. I want to know if metform is safe during pregnancy. I am taking metformin 500 mg daily. And my obgyn told me to keep taking it. I do have hx of pcos. I am concern for my baby , please if somebody knows anything about this , I would greatly appreciate.

yes it is safe. I have pcos and had to take Clomid and metformin as well as a trigger shot to get pregnant with my second son. I took it until I was 13 weeks pregnant then was taken off of it. I have heard also by online research that it helps sustain the pregnancy as well... I would say if your doctor is telling you to keep taking it then you are safe... Have a great 9 months and dont worry! I know it is hard but if you have any pregnancy concernes please ask your doctor and we can all help you here too.... Although we are not doctors! God Bless
