Multiple Gestational Sacs

I have had an unltrasound and the tech detected 3 maybe 4 gestational sacs but no heartbeats. I am almost 8wks along and have been scheduled for another ultrasoound in a few weeks. I am wondering if anyone else has had this happen to them cause i am freaking out about the possiblity of it being a blighted ovum pregnancy. Also, when with multiple births can a heartbeat be detected and do they develop smaller than a single birth child?

I was pregnant with twins, and at a 9 week (actually 8 1/2) U/S they did not detect HB's in either.....they were measuring only 7 1/2 weeks.....I chose to have Hcg levels drawn (quantative) and they came back at 13,000 on the first draw, in which my Dr. told me that they should definately see heartbeats with an Hcg level of 13,000......You may want to call on Mon. and ask to have Hcg levels drawn.....then have them drawn 48-72 hours later and see if they have increased.......Like JoyRenee said though, sometimes it's hard to see a HB at 8 weeks....esp. if there are multiples.  Best of luck and keep us posted.

Im having the same issue, im 5 weeks and 4 days pregnant and I have an empty G-sac, the docs have me worried so bad im surprised I havent had a M/C.

I have been told that some people can detect life when this early, but some can't. Different women mean different results. Id say don't panic, and don't do anything drastic like a D&C unless they can prove to you 100% that it needs to be done.

Sounds like possible triplets or quads! I wish you much luck, and hoping for the best.

You're gonna see what happens on your next appointment. But maybe is still early to see heartbeat. If the sacs are normal the babies are gonna be a little smaller than just one because are multiples, but the important thing is for them to be healthy. They grow very soon. Good luck on your next appointment.

I wouldn't worry! In early pregnancy it can be difficult to find the heartbeats especially depending on their ultrasound equipment. Give it a few weeks and get another ultrasound. Most likely it's harder to find heartbeats in multiples.
