We have been adding beech nut rice ceareal to Jaxson's bottles since he was 9 weeks due to reflux. It helps a little with the reflux, but he is still hungry just as often! =) We also add a little bit of prune juice to his bottles b/c the he constipation issues too, so if the rice cereal seems to constipate your little one, ask your Dr. is you can add a little prune juice too! Oh, and we use Avent bottles and had no problems with flowing issues once we added the rice cereal...Good luck!
Jaxson is now almost 14 weeks old and weighs 15 1/2 pounds (maybe more?) No Dr. appointment between the 2 month and 4 month visits!! So that is a guesstimate, but he is beefy! =D
the fast flow nipples should be fine as long as you dont add too much cereal:)
Gina- I was told to try rice cereal first....not sure what brand to get..will have to look when I go to the store. iwas told it "could" make her constipated....so may have to change after to oatmeal. Will let you know how it goes...
blueeyed......thanks for the info. Going to start her on rice...as doc said......hopefully it helps...if it constipates her...i will be trying the oatmeal..
also hoping the fast flow nipples are going to be a big enough hole so that I dont have to cut holes in the nipples of the bottles!
When Dalton was first born I thought wow! A kid with an appitite! None of my kids like to eat, they are all skinny minnies. Dalton was just DD he at why more than the norm, then he started trowing everything up and having alot of other problem. He was dignosed with acid reflux:( Now he is 7 months old and he hates the bottle! I feel like im torchering him to get him to eat more than a few onces a few (3) times a day! The doctors not concerned at all. He is over 18 lbs almost 19 I think and eats everything eles in sight! I could go on and on , lol. Back to your problem though:) Babies go through growth spurts so I wouldnt expect this to last. But it could go on a while. If you try cereal and she gets constipated go for anything but the rice. But try the rice to begin with because its the most gentle of the cereals on babys tummy. Good luck!
OMG 8-9 hours?? LUCKY!! My lil man still gets up to eat at night too but he's gotten a lot better. He will sleep for 5-6 hours which is good for him!
Maybe thats the problem, since their sleeping so much at night, they wake up starving! lol. What kind of cereal are you getting? I think I'm going to start Caiden on that too, see if that fills his tummy.
Hunter is still getting up at night to eat!! I know!!! But my little man is hungry!!
Yea..>Sarah is only 11 weeks old and all she wants to do is eat!! Hopefully adding the cereal willhelp......and hopefully it wont constipate her!
Going to pick some up today and try it later.
Its funny..she will sleep for 8-9 hours at night wihtout waking up hungry....but during the day...every 2 hours!
Girl, you know Caiden is a chubber! He isn't eating that much at each feeding but lately when he gets up in the morning (around 8 am) he eats every 2 hours until dinner time! Than he spreads it out to 4-5 hours. It's so weird! During the day he'll usually eat 4 or 5 ounces and at night its 3 or 4 ounces. But just when I thought he was spreading his feedings out...because for the past couple weeks he was going 3 to 4 hours between feedings during the day. Than this past week he started getting hungry every 2!! And we've tried feeding him more so he isn't hungry so often and it doesn't work! He'll either eat it and still be hungry 2 hours later or he wont eat any more than 4 ounces. So for now we just have to deal with feeding him every 2 hours which kinda ***** and is exhausting!
Hunter is a Fat A$$...He will eat anything....LOL We started him on cereal at 3months and add some apples in it by 4months! He is now 9months at the end of the month and he eating just about everything, he loves table food!
