I was born tongue tied and so did my father we don't have problems talking or pronouncing letters and we never had speech therapy, we don't have trouble eating or anything else. My dentist and orthodontic told me that I could cut it if I wanted to but I am not because I don't have any problems with my tongue being tied.

I was born tongue tied (never know it was called that) lol I was fine, no speech problems at all. I didn't get it cut until I was 11. Everything has been normal ever since, my tongue is just a little short.

My husband had that and could talk fine but didn't have it cut till he was almost a teenager and it was because he started having trouble swallowing and eating. It was painful for him and I guess they could have cut it more? But he's fine now except he can't stick out his tongue past the very tip of his lips.

One of my friends had that and had a lisp his whole life when he was 15 he read somewhere that cutting that would make the lisp go away and so he did. After he cut it he was able to talk normal. So that procedure is done so that your baby will not have a problem speaking when he is older :) be grateful he's not 15 and doing it himself ;)

I use to be a pediatric dental assistant depending on the child depends on How they handle each case... in most cases they let the child grow in to it with no problems.if it is to tight and close to the jaw is typically when they address it.... I hope this helps!!

Getting it clipped is supposed to help. I have two cousins that are tounge tied and they didn't get theirs taken care of and the one does talk a lil funny, the other can't eat large portions or she'll choke.

I believe they cut it so that he WILL talk normal, right?  If you notice he is 'talking funny', speech therapy is really awesome.  But hopefully that won't be the case and the surgical snip will do the trick.  good luck
