Thanks so much!
She didn't tell me my exact numbers on the phone but that list of food sounds like what I eat everyday already... Like seriously. I don't eat red meat so I'm not consuming any fatty meats and we only use whole wheat everything and u love salads and salmon.. Hopefully the dietician will be able to tell me what I'm doing wrong
Im dealing with GD right now. Meat, chicken, Salmon, veggie burgers, ground turkey, eggs, dairy, salad, veggies and some small fruit will be your friends. Water and crystal light drinks. Wheat bread, corn tortillas, wheat pasta, brown rice but only about 1cup. It's not that bad it's just super healthy. Blood check 4 times daily insulin if needed. Good part is it goes away after baby is born. GD is when the baby's hormones don't let your pancreas produce enough insulin or doesn't let our bodies use it efficiently. At least that's what I was told.
I think the main concern for c-sections with GD is just the baby getting too large, they will monitor it closely, nothing to stress about, it's usually pretty easily controlled!
My friend had them & she says its really not that bad. She had to prick her finger 4xs a day & go for more ultrasounds but its all to make sure you & the baby are fine. She gave a vaginal birth this past July & they are doing great.
My mom had it with me and she said the worst part was they had her on this special diet and had to eat a ton. They say babies are usually bigger when you have GD, they told me mom I would be like 9 pounds and I was only like 6 pounds 7 ounces. Don't worry to much you will be OK. Just follow what the doctor says and you will be just fine.
Thanks for all your responses :)
My sister had GD and she just ate healthier, less sugary drinks juices, sodas though she only drank ginger ale she cut down on it. She didn't eat much carbs because carbs break down to sugar. And drink plenty of water. Everything will be just fine and you can have a normal pregnancy they just monitor your sugar better.
I had it with my first baby and I didn't have a c section.... waiting to see if I will have it with this baby too.... u just have to watch ur sugar in take
no you can still have vaginally , I had gd with my son and had him regular . I personally enjoyed being able to experience it because the diet made me feel so much better can do didn't gain much weight once on it . I'm hoping I don't have it with this pregnancy but if I do I'll know a bit more and its not our fault we have it it has to do with the placenta . I hope you feel better :)
I've never had an issue with blood pressure.. I go to see a dietician very soon but does anyone also have GD and can tell me some pointers that I can follow for diet until then? I'm scared to eat anything now
Mm... Not sure about that.
Oops* sugar. Not pressure.
Does anyone know if there's a higher chance of c section if you have gestational diabetes?
Its high blood sugar... not blood pressure...
Just relax. Do what's in your control. And avoid future complications.
Okay, first and foremost, this isn't a deadly disease. This is temporary. It is just high blood pressure. You didn't kill a bus full of orphans so don't feel like a failure. It is only a big deal when you don't take care of it and harm your baby. So, now that you have it. Swallow the pill. And take care of yourself. This happens when you aren't producing enough insulin. Glucose stays within and isn't changed into energy. Which of course is essential. This can happen to the baby if you don't take care of yourself. The baby will also store insulin and just get fat. And that's an issue because the baby has brittle bones and is still developing. You're not a failure. Most doctors don't even know why this happens.
