1st trimester Questions, cysts?

I took a OTC pregnancy test about a week and 1/2 ago and it was positive so I confirmed that at a doctor and it was. I was told I would be about 7 weeks since I last had intercourse only in Jan. 2010 and my last period was Jan. 15-18.
I started having lower pains, more on the right as well as low back pain. So I went to a doctor and they scheduled me a ultrasound at the hospital. When I was seen there they told me I was not pregnant, that they only saw a empty sac and what they thought could be a sign of ectopic pregnancy...They were about the admit me to the hospital but I got to leave on Friday as long as I came back if pain/bleeding got bad. (I haven't had any bleeding at all) So I walked out with the unborn baby's father thinking we were no longer pregnant.

My doctor was concerned over the weekend and kept calling me and finally on Sunday he told me to go to the ER and he would let them know I would be coming in. I wasn't really in bad pain but he wanted me to go to check my Beta-Hcg,. Which was 1271 on Friday and he wanted them to do another ultrasound. So I went to the ER they did their tests and admitted me. I was very confused and upset. The new HCG was now 2812 and the ultrasound did not look any better nor show a yolk sac or embryo. As well as there were findings of masses, fluids, and blood when they did the ultrasound. I am very confused still about this so I just have some questions.

-On the last day I was at the hospital the last HCG went up a bit more (I was only in the hospital for 1 1/2 days). But the last ultrasound they did they said they found a yolk sac and still could not see the embryo. So I was now pregnant again. But they are telling me I would be only about 5 weeks which makes no since since I haven't had intercourse in the last 2 months not since January. So does anyone have any thoughts or experience with this??

I have some questions hopefully someone can help me understand what the findings below are/mean....

- Also the ultrasounds are showing I have a Hypoechoic mass (26x 19x 17mm has gotten bigger within 3 ultrasounds that were done over the weekend) this is lateral to the right ovary, does anyone know what this is?

- Anechoic free intraperitneal fluid with my pelvis? I just don't know what all these ultrasound meanings, mean? Your advice, comments, or experience is appreaciated.

- What is a 2cm corpus luteal cyst (left ovary)?

I also has 50cc of mildly complex free fluid in my cul-de-sac but this has went down a bit within 2 days.

The only other things they found as I see on my records was fundal fluid, endometrial fluid seen, irregular margins 3-4cm and the list of things I don't understand goes on and on.

So anyones help so I can understand what some of these findings are in plain english :)

Thanks again everyone
I just hope for a healthy, happy pregnancy it is just so hard when they tell me one day I am pregnant and the next I am not. I pray that nothing serious is going on but I will find out I guess.

If you have a question about anything please ask and I will respond asap.

THANKS AGAIN

Sincerely,
Confused Pregnany???

Thanks for replying
Yes they are going to be having me come back for check ups and follow up ultrasound to make sure everything looks ok.
I know it's really confusing what I wrote.
They saw 2 sacks at 1st just to let you know, one in the correct area of my uterus and the other one was near my ovary or fallopian tube so this is why I am confused.. I guess later ultrasounds will be easier to see and read. So for the time being I am just going to be cautious but no freak out.
No matter what happens, it is a good sign that I can get pregnant after years of not getting pregnant. Well, I was pregnant when I was younger 2 times but that didn't work out. So this is a good sign.

I am thinking maybe it was twins and one is having issues and hopefully the other one will be fine???

I will let everyone know what happens.

Thanks again, have a good one :)

I'll answer the things that I do know something about.  A corpus luteum cyst forms on the ovary after you become pregnant.  This cyst is completely normal and helps produce the hormones necessary until the placenta is fully developed later in the first trimester and takes over.  A corpus luteum cyst can cause some pain and discomfort that will go away around the time the placenta takes over and the cyst dissolves itself.

As for being only 5 weeks.  If you had intercrouse in the last couple of months your dates could very well be off but if you haven't had intercourse since the time you last mentioned then I'm not sure.  The fact that you went from just a sac to seeing a gestational sac and a yolk sac is a good sign.  Your HCG is doubling nicely.  I don't know much abuot ectopic pregnancies but I didn't think a gestational sac would form since the egg implants OUTSIDE of the uterus.  But as I said I raelly don't anything about ectopic.

Unfortunately in these types of situations, usually on time will reveal what's really going on.  Good luck and just try to take it easy for a little while.  Are they have you come back to repeat the ultrasound and blood work again?
