So glad to hear that she got her period. I apologize for not understanding that you were already using birth control and you are wanting to know the BEST one. The birth control pill is pretty effective, and the IUDs, implant, and shot, are all relatively the same in effectiveness. They are all pretty effective, but there is no method that is 100% failproof. It's really just a personal choice.
Like for some people (myself included), remembering to take a pill everyday is not the easiest task :-)...especially when you have little kids already. They drain your memory. LOL. This makes the pill just a little less effective (because you can forget to take it). Also, other medications may cause the pill to be less effective.
I had an IUD and because of how sensitive I am, I hated it. It caused so much discomfort for me. However, most people LOVE it. And depending on the kind of IUD, they can last for years and years (5-12 years), but they can also be taken out by a doctor if you decide that you want another baby.
The shot is another one that most people like, but for some people, they gain a significant amount of weight, and they dislike that.
I haven't heard too many complaints about the implant, but to be honest, I only know 2 people that had it. One got pregnant with it, and the other got very depressed when she had it. But, I'm sure there are sooooo many people who have it and love it.
If your wife is a smoker, that can have an effect too on which methods she can and should use. I would again suggest going to a doctor and discussing these options. They would know your wife's health situation better than I would, so they would definitely be able to recommend the best options. But, again, as a group, the pill (when taken regularly and not with medications that can counteract it), implant, shot, and IUD are all very effective for the most part. Condoms are a little less effective, and pulling out is much less effective.
I wish the best of luck to you and your wife, and I am so glad that you had the outcome you were hoping for this month. Take care!
Hi Both of you;
thanks for your comments....I was not sure and still apprehending because we do follow BC methods.But as there was a delay of a week in her periods,we were a bit worried.Thank God!! she has had the onset of her period today........may be the same was delayed for she was not well before 3 weeks.BTW can you tell us what is the most effective and safe BC method from your experiences?
thanks
Lol...of course as tobbeyj said, please confirm prior to using the mentioned BC methods. But gosh, I would SURE HOPE that a dr. wouldn't prescribe the pill or the shot or an IUD or implant without first confirming themselves?? Talk about a good reason for having liability insurance! No wonder OB's have the most expensive liability insurance!
Take a preg test to confirm before starting some of these methods of BC please. I would STRONGLY advise you both to see a doctor together to have a discussion about this. It seems like you may have some important learning to do with your wife, Good Luck!
I'm sort of confused. Your wife is already pregnant and you want to know how you can avoid it?? If she is already pregnant, you can't avoid it - it's done. There are certainly options available if she is already pregnant and you don't want a child. You can go to a doctor or to Planned Parenthood maybe to discuss your options. I will not at all provide any suggestions on this forum since they will mainly revolve around my personal opinion, and that is not what this forum is about. And if you are asking how to avoid getting pregnant if she is not already pregnant, the answer is either birth control of some sort (condoms, the pill, IUD, implant, shot, pull out, etc.) or abstinence. I will voice one opinion, and I apologize if I offend anyone at all - if you don't want a child, please do something to prevent it...that is being responsible and mature.
