No gestational sac seen

I went to my ob on Sat. (24/9/11) at 6 weeks in my pregnancy & he did urine test, it was positive & u/s showed no gestational sac. He (doc) said I should come back to do u/s in 2 wks. Can someone tell me why no sac?

I took progesterone inj with my 4th pregnancy and still miscarried. However with my pregnancy now (5th) i started taking progesterone supplements orally starting at 3 days after ovulation and so far have not have any issues, I am now at 13 weeks. Low progesterone can cause a miscarriage, however there are typically other problems causing the low progesterone but the low progesterone is the most noticeable issue. If the baby isn't developing the way it should progesterone inj/suppl won't help with the outcome.

Good luck, and just be patient, I had the same issue too. At my 6 week ultrasound there was a small gestational sac but it was about 1 1/2 weeks off from where it should be. I came back in 2 weeks and everything was measuring where it should be. It is amazing how 2 weeks during pregnancy can make such a huge difference.

no i dont think a injection would do much in this case, i think that it might jsut be too early to see something for sure and depending on the shape of your uterus it could have just been missed, i would wait till the Dr check you again and go from there

did he talk to you about progesterone injections? are your levels off?

Thanks nandi.

Is it proper to take progesterone inj. in order to prevent miscarriage?

It may just be too early. Wait the 2 weeks as the doctor recommened and by then, it should certainly be detectable.
