how often are you bathing her? Both of my girls started to get skin problems when I bathed them too frequently. As little babies, I found twice a week to be the magic number. Any more than that, and they started to develop cradle cap and dry skin.
there is a lot of controversy surrounding the chemicals that they put into baby washes. Just google "chemicals in baby shampoo" and what you read may make you uneasy.
I found a few from what I perceive to be credible sources. For example, http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/22999573. While the major study that most of these articles refer to is 2 years old now, it shows that products we trust and assume to be safe have many chemicals in it that have not been thoroughly studied.
you can also get it at amazon.http://www.amazon.com/Mustela-Stelaker/dp/B000PJ2R0C
My son had cradle cap and there is a brand I highly recommend called Mustella which has a shampoo specifically for cradle cap and it worked amazingly. My son has sensitive skin and was getting dry skin on his legs, elbows etc.. I still use the body wash and lotion on him now and he is 18 months. Babies r us caries it.
thank you Joy! so I shouldnt use soap on the rest of her body either? The doc told me to not use Johnson & johnson , but to use Aveeno and I got that one.
It's just so depressing cause it seems to get worse and worse everytime, like her whole face is covered wit these skin colored bumps and some of them are red and I feel so sad for my baby! It gets to a point that I don't even want to take her out cause I dont want people looking at her and being like "ew what is that" you know?
It's all normal as your baby's body adjusts to your hormones leaving her body. My last baby had the worst baby acne but it cleared up after a few weeks.. Keep her face clean; NO SOAP.
Do not put oil around her eyes. Using a damp washcloth you can gently wash her forehead/eyebrows in a circular motion to loosen the skin buildup.
Honestly every baby gets some skin issue at some point; don't worry! I know it is unbecoming but your baby will soon have smooth, clear skin. Just keep it clean, without using soaps (soap dries the skin out). I wouldn't use the oil near her ears either, but that's just me.
Can I apply the baby oil on her ear lobes, behind her ears and eyebrows?
they make cradle cap wash but I've always just used johnsons baby shampoo or baby oil and a soft scrubby or my finger tips to really work it in well. After a few times it was gone.
Some babies are more prone to eczema and eczema related skin problems. Mine were. They would get little red dry patches, plus the cradle crap and milia.
My son had Cradle cap, and from time to time he still gets it at just about 2. We'll put a little baby oil on it, then a day later give him a bath and it usually is much better. His Cradle cap never fully went away yet. Our son also has spots on his legs that are kinda like what you describe, they don't bother him and his dr said not to worry.
