How long until I feel the baby move on the outside? Responses needed Please.

Ok, I'm almost 25 weeks now. And I've been feeling little TJ (tyler james) kicking for about 3 weeks now. And Consistantly for about 1 1/2-2 weeks now. it's VERY strong, so strong that sometimes I'll look at my stomach expecting it to move... and it doesn't. I can't feel it on the outside yet. I've been trying all day now as he's been kicking me all day and flipping around.

It's driving both DH and I crazy because we want him to feel TJ move!. And My mom is practically begging to feel him move. (She's all over me with this pregnancy being that it'll be her first grandchild, but it's still driving me nuts)

When were you able to feel your child's movements on the outside?  OR how long did it take to feel it after you began feeling TRUE kicks?

Thanks in advance for your responses

i feel alex the most, when i'm sitting here reading through posts, almost like he's saying "ok get off your a** and do something" lol.....i was moving some stuff to the new house friday, and oh! either he liked it or he was mad, cos i felt him the most that night!!! now, dh says he's felt him move, but i think that was hunger lol, cos i'd only  have been like 13 weeks? and mom did a couple weeks ago, on the day of my appt, and i think she said it was just barely, but she felt "thumper" also lol.....
didn't yourmom say something before about not being able to feel him from the outside? that she had met another woman who was 5 months, and said so many people could feel him? i really just think it's the baby.....he could be shy lol.....

Well, today I felt him moving a TON on my left side of my stomach near my hip... it was so strong I felt it BARELY a couple times. So I had DH sit there with his hand on my stomach for about 5 minutes, and the baby gave him 3 kicks which felt strong to me, but he said he didn't feel anything. arghhhh... it's so frustrating.

I remember having to push my fingers in pretty far and once you feel it that way you will have to take other peoples hands and push them in for them so they know how hard to push it and dont do it too hard.  by the way, "the baby is sleeping right now, not moving" works very well when all of the hands on the belly start.

Thanks for the response ladies.
Babydreams~ Yea.. she actually accused me of lying to her at one point about not feeling it on the outside yet. UNTIL I talked to the doctor a few days ago with her there. And the doctor actually told her that I won't even be feeling him all the time for a little while because he's small, and in order to be felt he has to kick or push HARD against the walls of my uterus.

They haven't said I have an anterior placenta. It would make sense tho. However, I started out this pregnancy at 5'8 177lbs. I had probably 1 1/2-2 inches of fat on my stomach... so that could have something to do with it.  IDK.. sometimes it feels like my stomach shakes from the kicks if it's hard enough, but by the time I look there's nothing moving.

this is my 4th and w/ my 3 girls i always felt it at least by 20wks.  this time i got up to over 24 wks and hadn't felt it on the outside.  i was really worried b/c this wasn't normal for me but of course the doc wasn't worried at all.  i had an u/s around 24wks and they said that i had an anterior placenta like babydreams9 does.  did they say that yours is like that maybe?

I am now 19 weeks as they changed my dates, but I have been able to feel Conner for a long time now, and the past week an a half I have been able to feel him from the outside. Hubby can't really feel him yet nor can anyone else because they aren't sure what they are feeling for lol, so when baby does move they tend to be oblivious to the situation, atleast thats what my doc told DH today.

He said I should be able to fee conner really well on the outside by 6 months or 7 months at the latest.

I wish you luck!

I understand your frustration! I am almost 24 weeks; started feeling my baby at 20 weeks, and I've been feeling it constantly for about 2 weeks now as well. My hubby has been able to feel it from the outside, but only a few times. Sometimes I'm like, how can you NOT feel that?! The only way we've been able to feel it from the outside is by pressing with the whole hand, focusing pressure on the palm, right underneath the belly button. It's okay to push on it a little bit. I've got a bit of a "cushion", plus an anterior placenta, so feeling our little guy from the outside is a bit more difficult than for most & requires a bit more effort. But it is so amazing when we do!! :) We have the best luck feeling from the outside when I am laying on my back; laying on my side doesn't work. It also helps to sit on the couch w/your butt at the edge and your body leaned back, so kinda like you're laying down. I feel him the most when I am at my desk at work, sitting still, so make sure you're in a restful state when you attempt to feel from the outside. It helps to eat something beforehand, too.

I have a stuffed animal that plays "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and when I press it to my tummy the baby starts moving around! You may want to try something like that. Also, when you respond verbally to his kicks he'll continue to do it. ;) I always shriek happily everytime he kicks and he keeps going....

And I had to lol about your mom being totally all over you b/c it's her first grandbaby... mine is the same way. She is sooo anxious to feel something and hasn't yet. But oh well, it's sweet that our moms are so excited! :)

I started to feel my baby move at 13 weeks 6 days and on the outside from 17 weeks (mum was gobsmacked when she got a proper kick which she was adamant must mean i was further on but midwife says its because i was very petite to start with.) Im 27+4 now and she bounces around 24/7 - a very active baby.

I think it all depends on your build and how the baby is lying. Everyone is different, dont worry it'l happen soon

I started to feel my baby outside at about 24 weeks, I think it depends on the baby's position and how big you are. I'm 27 weeks now and I can see my belly poking out in places or shaking now and then. You will feel it soon, don't worry.

Well.. I've tried that with myself, Laying on my side and back(when comfortable) and Pushing my fingers into the "fat". lol, I wonder if maybe TJ is kicking only Down or toward the back?

I've felt it in the front... but even with pushing my fingers in deep (it doesnt' hurt) I still can't feel it even when he kicks hard.

It may be that they have to "dig" their hand or fingers in at this point. Now I know the way I said that sounds painful. What I mean is that they're going to have to push into your belly pretty hard. It won't hurt baby at all. It helps to lay down, preferably on your side, and have him put his fingers into your side as that skin and tissue isn't as thick as the front of your belly.

My DH felt our first daughter move around 22 weeks by doing this. It was a little thump and I saw his hand jump with the kick!
